Uploading video

Welcome to Fixya,

If your camcorder is connected using usb cable. Make sure that was connected properly and the camcorder is detected by your computer. Now if detected then go ahead and check my computer and look for an Icon removable devices. Double click on it then look for the image or video folder. Now if firewire connection same thing. If your camcorder is tape base you need capture device for you to be able to upload that to your computer.

Sony DCR-HC52E connected with Firewire not detected in moviemaker

The Camcorder will flash the DV IN message as soon as the i.LINK/Firewire cable is connected to the Camcorder.

If you are getting the DV IN message then it indicates that the Camcorder recognize the connection.

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

If you are not getting the DV IN message as soon as the i.LINK cable is connected with the Camcorder then the issue may be with either the Camcorder or with the i.LINK cable.

Try resetting the Camcorder or try with different i.LINK cable. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD screen of the Camcorder. (You will be able to locate the RESET button by opening the LCD Screen. The Camcorder should be switched ON when you reset the unit. Press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object).

NOTE: Resetting the Camcorder will reset the settings of the Camcorder to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camcorder.

If the issue still persists after resetting the Camcorder and with different i.LINK cable then your Camcorder requires service to resolve the issue.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PV GS39 Win XP Movie Maker

I don't know if Windows XP Movie Maker can detect a firewire based video camera.

Do you have DVD burning software such as Nero in your computer? That has capture capability to it.

Pinnacle Studio will detect a firewire camera. It is reasonably priced and easy to use. In fact you can control your camcorder from Studio in case you need to rewind or fast forward the tape.

Can't upload video on PC

the computer might not automatically upload the file. it will detect the hardware, but not necessarily start uploading. if you have xp, try going into movie maker which is in your program list in the start menu. on the left hand side there is a few blue sentences, one is import video, another is import video from device. if you have your camera connected to the computer through firewire and have your camera on the vcr/playback mode, open movie maker and click import video from device, the computer will have already detected your camera, so the first option your given in the next screen should have the make and model of your camera to upload from.

Help! How do I upload videos to my PC from the Handycam?

Hi, Based on your post/description, a couple of possible reasons: 1. The drivers were not initially loaded/installed - use the original CD that came with the handycam to install/reinstall the drivers; or 2. The USB cable or USB port is faulty - replace or try another port; 3. You have to manually select the video capture device; 4. You don't need to "capture" but "Import Video" i.e. use an existing movie file that is saved in your handycam - copy, paste or use; Hope the above give you an idea or two. Pls post back how things are or if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
