Try reloading BIOS default setting by removing CMOS battery for 30-40 sec and then putting it back (if you have another, try replacing the old one). Next, pull the memory out and try booting. If you hear beeps your memory was OK and it is most likely that your motherboard is bad. If you do not here the beeps, Try testing memory by reinstalling one stick at a time or possibly replacing memory. It is very ulikely that your CPU is bad.

Hi,
Computer run with the help of power supply, means the source of power starts at power supply, that were we start, if the computer do not have power at all. You can open the power supply to see if the fuse, resistor or diode blows off. But some damage power supply cannot be seen with blow off fuse, etc. If you can borrow power supply and have it test you computer be sure it has the same description. If the power supply is good, it goes now to the motherboard, try also to see if there are blow off capacitor.
Hope that will help you.
Thanks

The beeps are telling you there is a hardware failure (POST). The number and length of beeps will give a better indication as to what has failed. Write back with that info and someone on this web site will interpret this for you.

If your power supply is bad, there is typically a much cheaper way to fix it rather than purchasing a new one.
If you know a little about electronics or know someone who does have them open up the power supply and check the capacitors. Often times when a power supply goes bad its the result of capacitors going bad.
If you notice on the ends of any capacitors a brownish/whitish discharge or "bulging" then the capacitor has gone bad.
A new one typically cost less than a dollar and replacing it is fairly easy if you know how to solder.
Let me know if you have anymore questions and hopefully if this is the case you can save some money.

The long beeps probably mean a problem with RAM. So try replacing it. Check whether the CPU Cooler (the fan on top of the processor) is working. If the fan is not working, the processor gets hot, and a siren sound is emitted. Also check whether power unit fan (at the back) is working. If RAMs are replaced and you still get the beeps, the problem may be with the VGA. (The beep sounds help to identify the problem, but the sounds differ with different BIOS models).
