Question about Swintec 7040 Typewriter
From the keyboard, the charecters are not correct when it types on paper. The lcd screen shows the correct charceter but when it prints the charecters are wrong. This problem can happen after the unit function correctly for awhile. Turning off the unit for 30+ minutes seems to correct the problem for awhile
If the typewriter is typing letters or symbols that you do not type, it is usually because the Pitch Selector is set to "PS". The pitch selector is on the left hand side and has the numbers 10,12, 15 and PS. Place the selector on 10 or 12 and you will be OK.
Also, check to make sure your printwheel is installed properly. Remove it and put it back in to make sure.
Another thing you can try is to clear the memory. To do this, turn off the machine. Place a piece of paper in the machine sideways. Hold down the MAR REL key and while holding it down, turn on the machine. Wait 2 seconds, then let go of the key. The typewriter will start typing. Shut the machine off after about 15 seconds. Then turn it on as usual. This will clear the typewriter's memory and unexpected charaters should not happen anymore.

Obviously a power supply or logic board is overheating. You will have to take it to a dealer in your area. Possibly to expensive to repair, unless you can find a parts unit on ebay. Approx. 100 to 200 dollars.
