Types wrong characters

From the keyboard, the charecters are not correct when it types on paper. The lcd screen shows the correct charceter but when it prints the charecters are wrong. This problem can happen after the unit function correctly for awhile. Turning off the unit for 30+ minutes seems to correct the problem for awhile

what do you suggest if the characters are still typing wrong and as u thought the logic board was overheating , is there any other way to fix or troubleshoot this problem.

I think there is a toggle button that allows the keyboard to type symbols or letters. My theory is that I've inadvertently pressed this toggle key and now instead of typing letters/numbers, I'm typing symbols. For example, I press "Z" and it shows up as "Z" on the LCD but it actually types a plus sign "+" on the paper.

Or maybe the computer is just fried and I need to junk this thing.

If the typewriter is typing letters or symbols that you do not type, it is usually because the Pitch Selector is set to "PS". The pitch selector is on the left hand side and has the numbers 10,12, 15 and PS. Place the selector on 10 or 12 and you will be OK.
Also, check to make sure your printwheel is installed properly. Remove it and put it back in to make sure.

Another thing you can try is to clear the memory. To do this, turn off the machine. Place a piece of paper in the machine sideways. Hold down the MAR REL key and while holding it down, turn on the machine. Wait 2 seconds, then let go of the key. The typewriter will start typing. Shut the machine off after about 15 seconds. Then turn it on as usual. This will clear the typewriter's memory and unexpected charaters should not happen anymore.

Try pressing down on the pitch selector switch if this helps it is dirty and defaulting to PS slide it up and down a few times, if the problem continues the keyboard will need cleaned and adj.

Obviously a power supply or logic board is overheating. You will have to take it to a dealer in your area. Possibly to expensive to repair, unless you can find a parts unit on ebay. Approx. 100 to 200 dollars.

I could be wrong but it sounds like your keyboard layout is set to swype instead of qwerty. On the bottom left of the keyboard is the setting option.

My toshiba laptop is typing wrong characters but my wireless tevion keyboard is o k. Is there a solution to this ?

Sounds like the laptop keyboard went bad and thats why its typing wrong characters. Best way to verify this is to use a USB keyboard on the laptop, if the USB keyboard is typing the correct keys then you know the laptop keyboard is bad. If the USB keyboard is typing the wrong keys as well then you know its a setting in windows that is causing the keys to type wrong characters.

The Daisy wheel is probably in wrong..reinstall it until it spins to the home position. Its either that or an adjustment to the print wheel motor.

Olympia supertype 330 types wrong characters

check the pitch setting to make sure that it matches the printwheel. It is the switch that is marked 10, 12, 15, PS. PS is proportional spacing and will only type correctly with a PS wheel. The number settings are for PICA ELITE and MICRO.. 10, 12 and 15. The numbers are characters per inch...so the larger the number, the smaller the character.. it is the opposite of FONT SIZE.
