Problem for Delta Jig Saws
Generic problem for all Delta Jig Saws
Motor will not start
Got this scroll saw as a gift. Was gone two years and when I got home I turned it on and nothing. I suspect the control board got zapped by a power surge because I left it plugged in. Could it be anything else? I had the capacitor checked and it is fine. Control board is $75 to $91-almost as much as a new saw. Is there any way to test the control board? Where can I find a cheaper board?

- I decided to take a look at the control board and there are several wires connected to it. I pushed and wiggle each one and tried the saw. It worked again. I suspect there was a loose connection or lost contact in one of the wires. Thanks for the advice. For those who may have this saw, the control board costs about $90 and to buy the saw new is less than $125 so another illustration of how we are a throw away society. Nobody can tell me this little ciruit board costs the manufacturer that much. In essence, the motor and the rest of the saw costs $35. Give me a break.

You got two options:
1) You call around to your local electric motor shops and ask if they have anyone that can troubleshoot control boards. Electricians that deal in micro electronics are becoming fewer and fewer since the cost of boards become too cheap to bother with.
2) Replace the unit. It'll cost you more if you fix one problem just to find another. Rule of thumb is if it cost over 50% of the purchase price to fix, replace it. Of course, on more expensive items that changes.
Oh, before you do any of this make sure you do a continuity check on your cord. When you do your check move the cord around to see if you have an intermittent short.

- The control board cost them somewhere between a dollar to 5 dollars! Yep! Greed.

Ryobi EJS500QEO Jigsaw: The blade release mechanism has an inherent design problem. The yellow plastic trigger often springs apart and causes the disintegration of the entire mechanism.Any remedies? I have considered drilling a 2mm hole through the trigger and fitting a 2mm set screw and nut. Ideally it should be a metal trigger
