How do I change native resolution on HP Pavilion a1120n when the choices in the display window don't match the recommended setting for my monitor?

If you cannot change the screen resolution then most likely the wrong video driver was installed.
Check the make and model of the graphics card and install the driver.

Change my screen revolution

If your resolution is making issues..it can be changed from the video settings ..usually when you install the video driver and restart ..the computer wil select the proper screen resolution right he way ..but if you do not have the driver installed this can be a problem ...so first make sure you have the driver ..and run it again ...This may solve the issue .
If you still want to try another resolution for some reason ..make sure the driver is installed ...and go to control panel ..select display ..and in there select display settings ..and change the resolution and apply ..
make sure you select one on your taste ..but remember that usually the one selected by the driver automatically it is the best one ..if the one selected it is causing the image being hard to see...than you select a smaller resolution ..and the objects will be larger....
Ex for a 17 '' display ...the best will be 1024 on 768 ...
Good luck !
By the way ..if you have a icon on the tray (notification area) with the display ..it can be changed from there too ...just click on it ...select the display resolution ..and change the values ..

How to get 1200 X800 resolution

It depends upon the notebook you use if it support the resoulution you want. You can change the resolution by display properties in control panel. Also 1280*800 is used only by widescreen desktop or laptops.

Desktop too large for monitor

This has to do with the resolution settings on your display, or someone has changed the default dpi, or the bios has been adjusted.
What OS are you using? xp? vista?
What make & model # of computer?
Right click the desktop, choose properties> then settings>make sure the screen resolution is set correctly, then choose advanced and make sure the dpi is set to normal. Reboot.
If that doesn't work, check for another graphics tab in the advanced settings for your display, like Intel graphics or something, and check the screen resolution set there and adjust it if necessary.
Otherwise, check the osd for your monitor and see if it's set to factory specs.
But I'm guessing the techs that did the work on your power supply had a different sized monitor hooked up and made an adjustment they forget to reset.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Cannot change resolutions.(monitor)

This could be caused by a variety of problems:

1. The video/graphic card does not support that resolution because:

a. it does not have sufficient display memory (at least 2 or 4 megabytes is requiered, if you don't have this amount buy a new video card)

b. the video card driver has not been installed properly or is corrupted (reinstall the video driver)

2. The monitor does not support 1024x768 resolution

Change your resolution, follow this procedure:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/display_change_screen_resolution.mspx?mfr=true

Please provide your entire system specifications, including the monitor.
