If I'm understanding your question, yes. You could use your 120v input/ 24v output transformer to control your valve solenoids on your sprinkler system. What is wrong with the original transformer and is this just an extra air conditioner you have laying around??????
Turning the dial to run should not send any electrical current anywhere it simply is set to come on at the scheduled time. If your turning the dial to run and attempting to start the valve manually and a click the pump or valve solenoid clicks, the flow control may be closed, the water is off or the valve has failed to open. Try opening the bleeder screw to see if the valve opens this way. If so, try replacing the solenoid if no, replace the valve.
Copy following links to identify timer manual and general wiring illustration: http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#sprinkler http://waterheatertimer.org/images/orbit-connections.jpg Do not connect voltage directly to COM and Pump terminals... these terminals have their own 24Volt AC output when timer turns ON. When timer turns on, the 24V flows to Relay. This action will cause electro-magnet to pull two points together, and that will turn on the pump. Same with the sensor terminals. Do not connect power to rain sensor terminals. The rain sensor plugs into outlet, and produces it's own 24V ac output. So when rain sensor activates, this cuts power to timer, and then timer will automatically bypass the watering schedule until rain sensor again resumes power output to timer. Gene
I am experiencing the same problem with my Orbit 57004. Did you ever figure out what was causing it not to start in "Auto" mode? he solutions above are not panning out for me.
Question is not clear. Do you have programming problem with the timer? Or problem locating sprinkler heads? Or a sprinkler valve problem? Add a comment with detailed information.
Sprinkler timer turns ON-and-OFF. Timer does not advance the sprinkler to next station. The sprinkler valve advances to next station when timer turns OFF. For example, when timer turns ON, then station 1 starts watering. Timer turns off, and then sprinkler valve automatically advances to station 2. Timer turns on again, and station 2 starts watering.
have the same problem,, but the small button on the bottom of the start relay works to run the pump or if i put the two start 24 vt wires to the timer 24 vt spaces,, but can not get the timer to turn on the pump when it turns on the water, even tried the orbit help center, and they said it was faulty timer, so i replaced it ( another wasted 2 hrs to return the old and hook up the new one) only to find out it too was exactly the same results. Next round,, i look for a diferent brand timer and pump relay switch,,, hope this will solve my problem
