I need to replace Left Hinge Assembly of automatic document feeder of Brother MFC8440. The Bottom part of the assembly is broken? Where can I buy the part at good price and would it be easy to replace by myself? Thank you in advance for your help.
You can try to get a hinge @ a local authorized brother dealer. I just got mine for 20 bucks, I think that the guy ripped me off, but I needed. Once you get it, it is very easy to replace. 1St, replace the old one by removing the screw in the back of the hinge (back of printer). then pretend that you are lifting the whole automatic feeder up. At this point you will see the right hinge looks likeit it coming out. Don't pull it out completely. Just pull it enough that you can flip the feeder enought so you can uncrew the 3 screw attached to the feeder. Once you remove the broken part, install the new hinge. make sure that you screw hinge first before you slip it down to the bottom hole then screw the hinge to prevent it from moving.
PS: try not to flip the feeder too far back
good luck
The only thing I would add is that you should unscrew both hinges in the back before pulling up.
ADF can be bought from a dealer, it has a few cables that need removal so it is a little tricky, it is also a expensive part (approx Aus$200, why are you replacing it, are you sure you dont just need to clean feed rollers or there is also another common fault on these doc feeders, the left side hinge breaks( replace hinge)
here is the brother part number for the adf (complete), you will need to purchase from a autherised brother dealer -
