the tv does not power on but it keeps making a clicking sound and wont stop till the tv is unplugged

my television won't turn on just makes the clicking noise and then turns off...the screen stays black

When I turn the tv on, it just makes a clicking sound. The screen stays black, then clicks again and turns off.
