Lost maps by updating

-   I went through all the procedures in the instruction manual. In page 51 of 53 it states to insert the cd and press install, which runs the update. I did this and I had the same installation error because it ran out of memory. Now the unit will not start, it's not even recognized by my computer anymore. The support desk said I should have not updated and now I have to return it to Wal-Mart.
Can I do anything with this?

-   I realize that the unit already has the information provided on the DVD stored in it already. The question I have concerns getting any future updates for this unit. As you travel around the country, new addresses are added all the time. Does Sanyo provide a new DVD from time to time which will update this unit with the new addresses that come online??-   stees4
