SOURCE: john deere x340 wont move

there is a release usually behind the seat that has to be pulled in order to push it physically. make sure that the release is pushed in for the forward/reverse to work.

SOURCE: I was mowing in tall

Hi,

Sounds like you're having a problem with your Power TakeOff system. The first thing to do is check to see if you didn't bump the PTO switch on your dash. Since you were in tall grass, check to see that there is nothing obstructing your machine.

If all appears OK, then the PTO should be tested. This is an electrical problem and requires a multimeter.
Before you test, check your battery to see if it's charged and that the terminals are clean.

For information on testing the PTO system, I'm pasting a web address with detailed instructions: >>>> http://www.ehow.com/how_7725472_troubleshoot-pto-system-john-deere.html
Copy and paste this link into your browser's address bar.

Good luck to you.

I hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

Handie Andie

Hi, remove the battery and battery support tray and clean all debris from around the hydrostatic drive, fan and cooling fins. Your problem is caused by the hydrostatic drive overheating. Hope this helps, regards Phil

John Deere X320. If at any point while I'm mowing I back up mower will not re-engage.

The wiring diagram shows the reverse switch is normally closed until activated. This would mean forward travel requires switch closed else PTO disengages... same as your experience.

From your description of progressive failure I suspect the switch has failed or has come loose and moved from it's normal position.

Go to the JD website below and search "reverse switch". A parts diagram should display. Look for item 15, part number LVA13307

https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/navigation/equipment/61166

The reverse pedal or linkage must somehow activate the switch.

There could be a problem with the PTO switch or safety interlock module or electrical interconnections so if the reverse switch checks out, further troubleshooting will be necessary. Start at the reverse switch and work your way to the PTO switch then the interlockmodule.

I have a John Deere Sabre 1948 Hydro while mowing if I go in reverse the engine wants to cut off. What causes that?

It's a safety mechanism that will automatically shut down the PTO or blades. That's what you have going on. It's normal.

Have lt155 john Deere mower. When cutting blades are engaged, pushing reverse pedal all the way down cuts out motor. Yellow lockout button is also pushed in.

A lot of mowers have a safety feature built into them that don't don't allow reverse mowing, there is a sensor switch that cuts the motors when depressed. you can however override this safety feature by removing one of the wires off the reverse pedal depress switch, but do so only if you are a competent confident user of the machine. And remember to reconnect the wire if there will be other users.

John deere mower manual

not a wise thing to do it is for safety reasons for it to stop the deck as you put the mower in reverse

Have a john deere sabre turn key won't start thought battery was dead charged battery still won't start jump start with car battery it will start then . try to engage reverse with blades running it...

Some mowers have a mowing reverse safety switch. That safety will kill the mower if you try to reverse with the deck engaged. Some mowers even have an override button that has to be held while backing up. As for the battery thing, no matter how much you charge a bad battery you will not get it to start a mower if it has a bad cell or two. I would use a multimeter to check battery voltage, but the end result would still be the same, replace the battery.

I hope this gets you going again.
