I have 3 charmglow heaters. I can get the pilots to light but when I try to turn the knobs to high or low they go out. Doesn't seem like gas is coming out at that point. Why?

there should be a thermocouple protruding into your pilot flame. This device, when hot, produces an electrical voltage that tells the gas valve that it is safe to turn on the gas. The thermocouple can be bad or frequently the small tube or wire connection from the thermocouple to the gas valve gets corroded and doesn't make connection. Try cleaning this connection first. It may be just screw terminal connections or a hexnut. loosen the screws or hexnut and clean ... reconnect and test. If it does not, pick up and install a new thermocouple.

I replaced the thermocouple on my standing pilot light but it still will not stay lit?

If you replaced the thermocouple yourself, you may have over tightened it when you installed it. Turn the gas control knob OFF. Loosen the nut on the thermocouple that attaches it to gas control valve to a point where you can turn it with your fingers. Now, finger tighten it and tighten it only 1/4 turn more with an appropriately sized open end wrench. If this does not solve the problem, clean the pilot assembly. You can do this, using a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with).

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

My living room gas heater will not stayb lit

Try replacing the thermo coupler. There should be a little bulb shaped part(like a pencil eraser) that the pilot light heats up .The other end screw into the gas valve. If this is going bad or has gone bad the pilot light will not stay lit. Most of these are under$10.Well good luck and try to stay warm.

Our charmglo ventless fireplace pilot will not stay lit. It started to go off including the pilot lite. Where can we find replacement parts for this problem?

I have the same problem with my Charglo fireplace. The propane company checked preasure and they even replaced the regulator. I am very disappointed with this and am afraid to use it. I have contacted Charmglo in the past and they were useless.

Pilot goes out

If the pilot won't stay lit, the thermocouple may be loose or faulty, the pilot orifice may be clogged, or the pilot light's flame may be set too low and needs to be adjusted. You can clear a clogged orifice with a piece of thin wire, such as a bread tie with the paper stripped off of it. Be sure to turn off the gas to the furnace first! Also shut off the switch or circuit breaker that controls power to the furnace. Just poke the thin wire into the tiny orifice where the pilot flame normally burns to knock off any ash or debris. Some pilots have a flame adjustment screw for adjusting the flame. To adjust this, refer to your owner's manual. Normally, this is simply a matter of turning the flame adjustment screw to achieve a full, steady 1 1/2-inch to 2-inch flame that doesn't have any yellow in it.
