Not connect wireless internet

It's an Acer bought in the States but I'm in Vietnam for work and I have a mobile wireless connection that works on my personal Dell laptop but not my work laptop which is the Acer. I also cannot connect to any wifi signal. It's as if it's ability to recognize any internet connection is turned off.

The "Fn" key is usually orange accented, for all the orange functions. it stands for "function". make sure you are holding that function button down and press the button with the wifi tower or logo on it (usually on the F1-F12 keys at the top of the keyboard".

there might also be a physical toggle switch, that clicks on and off, look around the base of the laptop for something like that.

lastly go into control panel, network settings, and make sure its "enabled"

SOURCE: My Acer travelmate 2300 will not connect to my

I have run into problems with many wifi cards with both Vista and XP. I dont know if you have tried this yet but if you click start and then right click on COMPUTER and then click on properties you will be taken to the system properties window. On the left you will have a link to the Device manager. Click it and you will see a list of your devices installed in your computer. Open the NETWORK ADAPTERS line and right click on your wireless adapter. Click on disable. Windows will warn you that disabling your device will stop it from working (yada yada yada) just disable it wait about 10 seconds then enable it the same way you disabled it. Try connecting to your network again. It should work unless it is defective. I am writing this on an Acer and yes I have had to do this with this laptop as well. Also if you have the Acer Empowering Technology software running go to the desktop and right click on the "e" that is on the bar and click on exit. I have had this software keep me from getting connected correctly before. Hope this helps... Dale

Cannot connect to the internet.

If your using wireless, make sure your wireless adapter is on. Look on the F1, F2, F3, (etc.) keys. Find a little icon that looks like a cell tower. Press FN and that key and your wireless adapter will be activated and you should be able to connect to wifi. Other advice, make sure your LAN is active, too. I'm not specifically sure how to do this, it depends on the operating system, and I just plainly don't know. Anyway, if none of this works, go to Acer's website and download the Wireless LAN drivers. You can install them and restart the computer, it should work. Good Luck!

Acer doesn't connect to protected wireless internet

It looks like you've keyed it in once, but you keyed it in wrong, so the system thinks the security key is there.

Which Operating System?

You can try connecting to another secured network and see if it asks for a security code, then try going back to your network.

Try getting to the security code by going to the wireless network connection and highlighting your network then click properties.

I can't connect to the wireless Internet despite

Borrow other wireless adaptor, then plug it to your desktop. Try to connect ...but U must install the adaptor driver too. If it works, that means your internal adaptor is out of work.

Gail,

Would love to help, Most computers like this have a wireless switch on them, when this is turned off then of course wirless internet would be difficult. I would instruct you to look for this switch and turn it on. I feel that could be your issue without even looking at it.

Other issues can be that the wireless security got twisted around when this frose so you might want to verify those settings as well,

Thanks for using fixya please leave postive feedback before you go,

Bought a new acer 5750 laptop (i5 2nd Gen, 6GB RAM) which connected intermittently to my router. PC World phone help worked through network adapter enable/disable and then eventually a full default...

I would try:
1. updating driver
2. try connecting via Ethernet, if the issue is only wireless connectivity, try using a USB wireless network adapter, if that works means your lappy has a bad built in network adapter.
3. Are you locating laptop too far from router?
Good luck.

Hi i just purchased a D-Link DIR-412. I'm trying to login to http://192.168.0.1/ and the manual states to enter user=admin & leave the password blank. This is not working. I'm on a mac Os X,...

Did you capitalize Admin? It's capitalized in the manual, and user names are usually case sensitive.

If you can't get through the login process, you probably won't get the connectivity, either.

The manual says set the switch on the back to 3g mode during setup. After checking that, you might try using the RESET button on the back - while the router is powered, press and hold for 10 seconds and release. After the router restarts, reboot your computer and try connecting again.

Samsung SGH-B520-No network

Unfortunatley this phone will not work in the States. It works off the 2G system of GSM 900 / 1800 where the system in the US is a 850MHz/1900-MHz GSM. As the frequencies transmitted by the mobile do not match the frequencies recognised by the mobile masts it will never work and will only be good in Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa

How to connect acer as5920 to internet

You can connect to the Internet using a cable or DSL modem and connect it to your computer using a network cable or a USB cable.

Basically you need to see what the Internet Service Providers offer in your location. Beware of the costs of the various plans they offer in broadband speed, their download limits and the penality for exceeding the limits etc.

Then read the following info to decide what type of Internet access you require.

If you want to connect to the Internet using a wireless connection then read this.
What you need first is to install the wireless driver for your wireless card in your computer. If you don't have one you need to purchase a wireless card.

Wireless connections to the Internet can be achieved by several methods and it depends upon the method of delivery by the Internet Service Provider in your location.
The most common is by DSL and cable, the modems that are used with DSL and cable connection can have a built-in wireless router. Your computer will require a wireless card to connect to the modem/wireless router and the range is restricted to approx. 100 ft depending where the wireless router is located within the building.

The laptop's wireless card can be a built-in device or a plug-in device eg a PCMCIA card or a USB device. and these can also connect to a wifi hot spot in locations such as McDonalds. Star Bucks etc.

There is another method that can connect into the Internet that uses a USB wireless device that connects to a G3 network, bacically a type of mobile transmission and the device is locked into a specific Internet Service Provider. This method gives a wider mobile range (even across states) of connecting to the Internet but usually at a higher cost.

When you decide which method you choose, you need to consider setting up your wireless network securely to prevent unauthorized access.
