Cigarette lighter does not work

first check the fuse, next, get a light tester and see if you getting power to the lighter unit. two wires to your cigarette lighter one black for - and red for +, if you getting power, your line is good that mean your cigarette lighter unit does does not have a good contact to what ever is plugging in. replace the unit; if no power to the unit, test the cigarette fuse and see if the wire is hot. if not you have a short to the fuse. hope that help some..good luck

Have tom tom for car, need to wire it up to m/cycle

I've wired my tom tom for use on a motor bike.
you CANT run 12v straight into the tomtom, you can see on the cig lighter plug it has a 5v output.
So I bought cheap lighter socket, it looks like plastic tube with the cable running out of the back.
So the wires run from the battery (via an in line fuse) to the cig adaptors, these are hidden in my side luggage bag to keep dry and up to the tomtom. job done

My tom tom one won't charge because the charging unit on the base of tom tom has lost the part that connects to the charger, do I have to buy a new one?

She charges on USB with a PC. If USB port suplies power, not all do.
Seperate home charger for sale.
Or replace original.
I hope you talk apot that cable to cigarette lighter.
Mind you I have a Go 300

Unit (tom tom 1xl) turning off

One hour is about the time the unit will run without a power source.

You need to check that the cigarette lighter is working. Check the car fuse.

Check the fuse (one of the six bumps) on the cigarette lighter plug has not blown.

Is the cigarette lighter / Tom Tom lead damaged in any way?

Dead

Does the cigarette lighter work in the car when you press it in? Does it get hot? If not has the fuse blown for the cigarette lighter?

If that is supplying power you may have a fault in the cigarette lighter to Tom Tom lead. Carefully check the fuse (one of the six bumps) in the plug and make sure it is still intact (use a meter).

If the fuse is OK then the lead itself may be faulty and probably needs to be replaced.
