Card Error

Hi,
On another brand/model, PC message "card error" indicates a problem with the memory card of the camera.
A couple of things we tried to restore it:
1. Remove the memory card, wipe clean especially the gold contacts making sure that it is dry and shiny (also the battery if possible);
2. Blow into the opening/slot where the memory is inserted to remove any dust, dirt or even a bit moisture;
3. Let the camera and removed memory card sit for a while at room temperature;
4. Put everything back and try again;
5. If it still doesn't work, it is possible that for some unknown reasons, the memory card was corrupted. This would mean re-formatting it but of course that would mean erasing whatever pictures and/or data are stored inside;
6. Try a recovery software with a card reader to try and recover whatever is possible and format the card;
7. It is preferable to format the card using the camera rather than the PC;
Sometimes just removing and reinserting the card works.
