the 600x refers to the time of the CD players. started with 2 x and up.
1 time is 150 k byte a second.
Be aware most of the time they give read speaks, and you want writ speed.

You need to check whether the LCD screen is damaged or not. The best way to do this is shoot a picture, and then down load to PC. Check whether the picture is ok or not. If the picture is ok, then LCD is bad. You need to replace your LCD.
If you wan tto do it yourself, the following are some sites for help: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/fixing-or-replacing-broken-lcd-screen.html Buy a used camera (one sold for parts) through ebay.com very cheap. Buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store. Then replace the LCD.
Have you tried to adjust the monitor brightness? There is a function in the menu for Monitor Brightness that will allow you to make the LCD display lighter or darker. Go to Mode Menu and then down to Setup tab and then to the icon for Monitor Brightness (page 88 of the advanced user manual explains how to set this up).
Your problem definitely sounds like the inverter - when you press FN-F7 you're restarting it and giving it a mild jolt. Luckily, it is a breeze to replace - undo two screws and pop off the screen bezel and it's just behind the contrast control. Get the service manual for the 600X from Lenovo's website which gives full stripdown details.
There is no otherway. becase the slides sends direct signal to inverter for adjusting brightness. You can adjust brightness the
other way ,through graphic cards property, but that is only adjustment for the color and if you do make it bright, you'll be loosing the vivid color..not so natural.
takecare.
