Question about HP Photosmart 2610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
After a year and a half of working great, and infrequently used I changed the black ink cartridge in the printer (with a new HP cartridge)and the message still appears on the screen. After three more brand new cartridges and lots of frustration I cleaned the heads several times. I called the HP reps and was told that there was nothing that could be done and that a new one was cheaper than fixing the condition. Would be a shame to have to purchase a new printer just because of some silly cartridge issue; Any ideas would be appreciated.
Buy a new one like i am on my way to do. I have no time for equipment that does not work. Looks like it is going in the trash tonight.

I did the same thing - you'd think they'd make a more durable part for a sector of the printer that gets a lot of user servicing (i.e., cartridge replacements) A spot of super glue and a small toothpick piece to afix the spring thingy to the plastic worked thus far. hope you have skinny fingers - it's a small space to work in.

I have the same problem. come to find out after about 10 minutes of investigating I found that a little plastic piece that holds a small hook shaped metal piece broke off and the metal piece is not making contact somehow to tell the printer that the black ink cartridge is actually in there
