Hi, the only plate that should be removed on the bottom is for wiring the power cord to the unit. If there is water leaking, specifically from the bottom of the unit, it's leaking through the enClosure assembly which is not serviceable. If the unit isn't that old it might just be leaking from the sink flange or mounting gasket at the top of the unit which at times can be difficult to detect. Or possibly the gaskets at the drain assembly for the unit.
Hope this helps ;)
Clean out the drain and see if that helps. Remove both nuts on p-trap and trap falls loose. Remove tailpiece from side of disposal. Hang rag over disposal opening so it directs water downward. Run water and turn on disposal. Turn off disposal and use coat hanger to remove debris if necessary.
Hi,
No, you need to drop the unit off of the bottom..
Here is a tip that I wrote that will help you to figure out what is going onwith your garbage disposal and why it is not working.
hi there first you need to get it cleaned out the best you can so you can see inside the disposer look at the verry middle of the disposal there you will see a bolt that needs to be removed it may be a special kind of bolt so just be prepared for that most hardware stores also sell a tool to help remove the bold and blade ...l after that bolt is removed you should be able to remove the blades than undo the pipes that are connected to it and any bolts and nuts ect ect. than pull out the unit if there is any silicone that seaoled the unit in it will be kind of hard but not impossiable to remove ok.
