Question about Amana ABB1927DE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

1 Answer

Bottom freezer Over the last few weeks my freezer has been collecting water at the bottom inner floor and freezing it. Now I have notice a temp. change. I pulled the back off and noticed that there was significant ice collected on the right hand side as you face the freezer. It seems to be focused around the copper pipes and pipes that lead into the coils. I melted the ice with a hair dryer and put it back together. Any clue to which part is bad? Thank You!!

Re: bottom freezer

It may be that the door was completely closed at some time this will cause this fault, or you have a defrost sensor fault. Regards Advisor

Inside of freezer door bubbled up

If the pipe that burst was spraying water onto the refrigerator, it is likely that some water got between the inner panels of the freezer door. This water then froze and expanded, pushing out the inner panel of the freezer.

That sounds quite normal as the rear panel is the evaporator skin. Check the drain hole at the bottom isn't blocked

If the water is collecting and freezing on the bottom of the freezer then the drain under the evaporator in the rear of the freezer section is plugged.

Water on floor under unit & ice bottom of freezer

By going online, saw several posts re this problem. In short, the water drain was clogged and there was also a problem with the defrost timer. Service man blew out the drain line with compressed air and installed a new timer. Voila! Problem fixed. Interestingly, the serviceman found a wad of what looked like putty, but was sticky like gum in the drain area. He said he had never encountered anything similar.

Ariston fridge freezer

hi smyvilla

on some fridge freezers there is a channel which is designed to take condensation from the fridge out through a small hole at the bottom of the back wall of the fridge check this hasnt got blocked or iced over, if the unit is a few years old it is possible that there has been some evaporation or leakage of the coolant mixture, that may be whats on your floor, the pump can therefore no longer pressurise the mixture sufficiently to cause it to remain cold,

Water collects and freezes in the bottom of the freezer

Your defrost drain is clogged. Get all the ice out and get to the defrost drain hole at the very rear bottom of the freezer. I use a piece of plastic tubing to run down them and clean them out, but you can use a piece of wire if it doesn't have a sharp end that will damage the tube. You can also remove the rear cover of the fridge and you will see the tube going from the cabinet to the drain pan and clean it from there. Post back if you need further help.
