The gas regulator that attaches to the tank may be bad.

There's a good chance your LP tank isn't putting out enough propane because it thinks there's an overflow. In short, if you don't light the grill fast enough, Propane flows back to the tank and a safety feature limits further output. Shut the valve and disconnect the tank, press your ignition switch a few times, then reattach and follow the manufacturers directions for lighting the grill. This will probably fix it.

If not, check for leaks in the hose with soapy water and make sure you still have a full tank!

There is an Englewood, CO, retailer called Appliance Factory Parts. They sell parts for discontinued and old model gas grills., at (800) 955-7075. The burner can be obtained from them or a local gas barbeque store (I found out they are interchangeable with new model grills), but the grilling and lava rock grates/grids were hard to match and I got them from Applied. I rebuilt a 1992 model Kenmore grill.

SOURCE: gas grill ignitors

I recently moved. When the grill arrived to the new home I had to purchase a new propane tank to replace the old one. The grill will not light. For some reason it isn't getting any gas. Any suggestions on what the problem might be?
I tried the obvious... tightening the connections, trying to light it manually etc.

I have a kenmore quantum series propane grill which i cleaned and now i cant get it to light and i smell the propane what should i check?

Donna, are you saying the ignitors are not working or that the burners just won't light? Not even by match lighting them? All this makes a difference in providing a solution for you.
Please advise. Thanks

Kenmore 800 grill replaced ignitor i get a spark but it won't light

First and foremost, make sure the gas tank valve is turned ON and that there is adequate gas in the tank. If that all checks out, do the following:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF.

2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes.

3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion,

4. Once the valve is full open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the
burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same
way. Did all the burners light and the flame heights look normal. I so, you just solved the
problem (with a little help).

Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

If it didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Regulator/Hose Assembly. You can purchase on at any home center or hardware store that sell gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

Just hooked up new propane tank and grill won't ignite either with starter or matches

Turn gas tank off and disconnect from grill. Check burners to ensure there is no blockage and reconnect tank.Open gas tank slowly, some grills have a sensor to detect leaks and automatically shut off gas. Opening the tank fast can cause this safty device to falsely read the sudden gas flow as a leak. If you still can't light the grill check all fittings for a leak using soapy water.

Gas grill lights but doesn't get very hot

I had this same problem especially when the tank on my 5 burner 2 year-old Kenmore was about half full. The solution above fixed it. I was used to opening the gas fully, turning one burner to high and clicking the button. If I would have read the front of the grill I would have seen that this was incorrect. I turned off the grill completely, unhooked the regulator and reconnected it. With one burner on high I began clicking the button BEFORE I turned on the gas. I slowly turned the gas on one quarter turn and it lit up full flame. I slowly turned the gas another quarter turn and lit the second burner. I slowly opened the gas all the way and lit the third and so on. That did the trick!
