Sunday, April 13, 2009 To whom it may of concern, Herewith I have to bring forward my disappointment that after a day of work, I could not close my notebook Toshiba Satellite P20 (Serial number: 74353716K; Part number: PSP26L-0PPJ9; Made in China; with Windows XP Home Edition), because of an enormous cracking noise. Screws and other little parts were jumping around. The hinges at the backside of the casing were totally deformed; this may be caused by the outgoing flow of the generated heat. I therefore was obliged to left my notebook open and had to bring it to the shop were I have bought it. They brought it to a center of repair in Jakarta, the costs of repair were quite high, i.e., IDR 4.75 million and it took more than two months to have the job done and with no warranty! The main issue is that there is something seriously wrong with the management of the generated heat. Here is a feature where one has obviously to deal with a wrong design of this P20 model. This is very sad, since this P20 is my workhorse and I am very happy with its specifications. With this letter I hope to contribute to an improved design of the notebook Toshiba Satellite P20. Win Vista Home Premium. OK, I power on the and everything starts out fine. I see the Toshiba splash screen, the green Windows scrolling bar. OS loads can see desktop then I have 10 sec. till the screen goes black. The power light is still on but no HD activity light at all. I can boot into Safe Mode and works fine, can stay on for hours if I like. But will not find my network, direct wired or wireless, keeps assigning 169.xxx.x.xxx address. Thought it to be spyware or virus related, but could not get online in safe mode or even onto my local network. Ran the Toshiba restore disks. Now as Windows starts for first time it goes to a Toshiba splash screen to finish setup saying it will reboot after it finishes. This happens about 10 sec. after Windows starts at which time the screen again goes black. Still have the power light lit, but no HD activity light. I let it sit like this for hours and no change. Now if I boot into safe mode it says Windows installation is not complete to click OK to restart in Normal Mode to finish installation. No matter if I cancel the final installation step in Normal mode or not, 10 sec. after Windows loads the screen goes black.... PLEASE HELP!!!

comier957, Thank you for your attempt to help me with my problem. You offered a solution and asked me to let you know. I attempted to let you know what I had done but do not know if you received my reply. Thought I knew how to send it but it did not post under my original question. . Anyway, I had one SATA burner in port 1 and one SATA burner in port 3. Since I posted the question I traded one SATA burner for a Samsung IDE burner giving me 1 SATA Burner and 2 IDE Burners. Each of them seems to work as it should. Sorry I "jumped the gun" and made the trade. You most likely could have solved my issue. Thanks
