Control panel not responding to touch -- NOT in locked mode!

I don't know what happened. Suddenly the interior light was on in the oven and the timer was counting down from 60 seconds. The control pad was not responding. When the timer went off, the only way I could get it to stop was putting it into "LOCKED" mode by pressing numbers 7 & 8 together. When I unlocked the keypad, the keypad is still not responding. I can't even turn off the interior light. ???

Sounds like you have a shorting membrane keypad, or there any be moisture or grease in the controls.
To remove the controller to check for grease and moisture, see the video here.
We would need your full model number from the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere on the oven to help you further, and our advice is free.
Please post a new help request with the full model number.

SOURCE: can't use the microwave

To lock or unlock the keypad, press and hold the CLEAR pad for 5 seconds. If this recurs, you may have a power line problem or trouble with your controller. If you suspect trouble and it's under warranty, don't hesitate to contatc GE via ge.com. If you don't have your mower's manual, you can download one at: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/

SOURCE: Microwave doesn't work

Sounds like you have a faulty control panel. I would use a meter and test the power from the control board to the magnetron and circuit board. Chances are the control panel is faulty

SOURCE: GE Spacemaker XL - fan stopped working, light will come on and timer will count down.

either the magnatron fried , or the fuse fried... either way the microwve has to be taken down and opened up.
If you have the serial number , GE will send you a replacement magnatron (but will not service the unit for you).
contact GE and they will take care of you... the magnatrons are warranted for like 10 years....

A small blinking light on the left upper corner of panel after a power outage and I can't do any command. The interior lights don't even come on when opening door. I already reset the breaker

Unplug the microwave oven for 10 minutes in a attempt to reset the microprocessor ic, press and hold the start button for the same time and release. Now plug everything back in hopes it will restart, if no change! the keypad control board will need to be replaced along with other unknown parts, due to the nature of damage far cheaper to replace.

Touch screen displays is lit up , but will not respond by touching any of the promts. I have unpluged the unit hopeing to reset no change. unit was working fine the day before.

HELLO.

The solution is to troubleshoot the microwave as explained below.

1 Check the power supply. Make sure the microwave is firmly plugged into a working electrical outlet and that your wall outlet is active if your home uses outlets controlled by a wall switch. Check your home's fuses or circuit breakers to ensure they have not been tripped. Without power the microwave will not respond to any input.

2 Make sure the parental lock is inactive. Some ovens, like the one shown in the image above, feature a keypad lock to prevent children playing with the controls. Most keypad locks can be cancelled by holding down a button or combination of buttons for a few seconds.

3 Make sure the door is firmly closed. Some microwave ovens will not allow any control panel input if the door is open.

4 Remove the microwave from the power, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. This will reset the microwave oven if there is a temporary problem with the software.

5 Press the "Stop/Cancel" button several times to cancel the current operation and return the microwave to standby mode. Re-enter your cooking instructions using the keypad as usual.

please let me know the outcome..

thanks.

Amana rfs12sw2a....1200watt The soft touch buttons don't respond except for number 6....

Sounds like a bad control board. First just check and make sure all of your connectors are in tight. Part numbers for the control board is 53001806 you could have a bad touch panel. rare and not typical but can happen part number for that is 53002019. I would probably buy both of those parts plug in the new panel into the existing control board and see of everything works. if so replace the touch panel and send the control board back. If it still does not work then swap the control board and send the touch panel back. hope that helps

I have a two year old GE JVM1540 Over the oven microwave. For some reason the keypad does not respond to any touch. It just has the display panel scrolls press start but doesn't allow any action.

These units are known for this problem. You cook on stove and stream gets into keypad causing keypad not to respond anymore. The good news is keypad can be replaced, the bad news is it will happen again and the keypad costs around $125. GE will not admit to any problem, but I see this problem alot. You can get a new keypad at appliancepartspros.com
