In the onscreen display, access to the DOS screen is greyed out - i.o.w. not accessible.
Is there anyway to change that?
Also, when I access the computer BIOS,
the window is too large for the screen,
so BIOS settings are not completely available.
Plus, the same thing - window too large for screen, in Safe mode, as well as on bootup.
Returns to normal (1024x768) in Welcome screen and subsequent Desktop window.
Lastly :) What is the URL for official HannStar support?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi ZT3000,
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I tried the reset, but that is acually a reset to factory
settings.
It shows a resolution of 640x480 which is usual for a BIOS screen,
but the display remains oversize.
I will try the contact address, but it looks like it's one for
business purposes rather than end user support.
Anyway,we'll see.
Thanks again,
Pete.

Thanks ZT3000 for following this.
At the moment I can't get my hands on another LCD,
but I tried it on a CRT and it's OK.
I think I will go back to the store it came from
and see if it shows the same on different computers,
but that could take me a while :)
BTW,I also tried shrinking the image, but strangely enough,
there is no size adjustment, only postion adjustment.
Have to explore that too while I'm in the store.
Thanks again,
Pete.

You must be reading my mind.
That's beginning to be my sentiment too,
although in fairness to I-Inc - Hannstar,
it may just be this particular model or monitor.
I do have a support email outstanding,
so let's see what they come up with.
They were hard to find. The official Hannstar website
has no reference mentioned, but I found the support link
at www.i-inc-usa.com
Thanks for the input.

Not exactly familiar with this particular monitor, but..
Once inside the computer BIOS (cmos screens), press either the external reset (autosync) button or from within the onscreen display. This should resize the screen (it does on any other model I've ever sold).
Same solution for SAFE mode.
Hannstar does not provide user support either by online or telephone.
They rely on the distribution channel to provide support (namely, your reseller).
The closest thing to direct HannStar support is here:

The last suggestion is borrow another LCD from someone, for just a moment, and check the size when in the BIOS screen.
If the screen is still bad, then your video card is not working right.
If the screen is okay, then your monitor is bad and if it's still bad after a factory reset, then all you can do is attempt a warranty replacement.

Pete,
Looks like the monitor is bad, as you noticed. If the CRT works on your computer, that rules out the video card.
As for not having screen size adjustment controls, that would be a first. They gotta be there somewhere??, anywhere??
You know it and I know it, your better off with a different brand of monitor.
