I use it for my xbox 360 for both streamed movies and those I buy on DVD and to be honest it beats any glass tube you can buy. I have been really impressed with my but I do not like how they justify a 300 dollar price tag for lamp replacements. Just can't seem to figure out why any light bulb would cost more than 20 bucks. But hey maybe I am old fashioned :) YES it's beautiful for movies, course it's the only projector I have watched them with.

Normally replacing the individual panels is not possible, they are factory alligned. But you can have a try, but takes a lot of patience to achieve a good convergence/ focus again. PLEASE check first the in and out polarized glasses for optical discoulerd areas or leaks.
dried out smd capacitors in primary part of power supply , common problem with this and similar models. 1uf, 2.2 uF and 1 radial 220 uF
replace bij 105 oC type
this model has a firmware issue, an update is necessary to get the lamp timer reset option. This is a expert job, you need the right image file and DLP composer software V4.2 Lite.
The EIKI LC-300 projector has a picture scan option button. Open the cover to the 12 button cluster on top of the unit & pick picture scan button & ensure that the button is up. In the down position, the picture is reversed. In the up position, the picture is normal.
Try pressing and holding the power button for 30 seconds. If this does not work do the same with the "up" arrow for 30 seconds. One of these shouyld take you to service mode.
simple!!! (if you know it..) press the UP button on the projector for 20 seconds, and the hours used will be displayed briefly in the left upper corner of the screen.
The operation manual is at this addres (http://www.eiki.com/docs/owners-manuals/lc-300_owner-manual_2000-06-05_en_na.pdf?sfvrsn=14). It is a PDF & very easy to download. If you need any other help, write back.
What you should keep in mind is that this Projector has only got 800 Ansi Lumens wich is not much and to make this worse it is a LCD Projector as well.
Ask your lamp supplier if they can insert a new lamp and check if it gives a better image at all.
If it doesn't , there is'nt really much you can do except buying a new unit with more Ansi Lumens and a better Contrast Ratio as this Eiki's Contrast Ratio is only 250:1 where the standard these days are 2000:1
