Sounds like the update didnt go very well. I suggest you take it to an Ipod authorised dealer and get them to reflash it for you. AND the latest firmware:) May be the only way to fix it:)
Okay, here's what you need to do. I'm assuming at some point yours like mine was formatted under windows. This is bad for them lol. Locate your copy of gigabeat room, and install it. This comes with a extra program in the start menu titled formatting utility for gigabeat. Format with this program, and then look under program files/toshiba/gigabeatroom/GBsystem. Copy GBsystem to the gigabeat, then turn the battery off with the switch on the bottom for thirty seconds. That should do it.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
This can only be done with a computer running USB 1.0. My newer computers could not "see" the gigabeat properly. I used an old machine with outdated USB to get mine to work again :) you can also check for aftermarket firmware called Rock Box, just installed that one mine, no more converting music to *.sat, it'll take straight mp3s now just like it should :) uploaded 20 gigs to it in less than half an hour :) beats the hell out of waiting ten hours for 8 gigs lol!
The DRM key is specific to the songs that you have downloaded, not the mp3 player itself. Most music services give you files in what is called WMA format. WMA files have DRM-encryption on them usually (unless they were burned from a CD or removed). To get the DRM key back, you have to either renew your music service subscription, or upgrade your music service subscription (in some limited cases, the music services only let you listen to the songs for 30 days, and then they require you to pay for that individual song to continue using it).
Convert the songs to Mp3 format, and you will never get that message agin.
1.U need to reformat player first:
see page 52 of owners manual(application software)
2.when formatting with gigabeat finished u need to restore of the firmware data see page 51 of the manual.
Piece of cake,dude!
I have the same problem as well
