Hello Donald,
I did not help out with much just wanted to make sure your machine type is a FAV6800A/FAV9800A. I will assume the machine type to be a FAV6800AWW. You may have gunk build up in the Fabric dispenser, I will attach some pics of opening mine, figured I would it clean up, it was a bit ugly. Place a 1” putty knife, mine is a 2.5” could not find my 1” at the location shown in the pic. Push in gently and lift up on that section of the Fabric dispenser top. Also refer to Page 33,34 of the Service Manual. Once removed check for gunk build up and clean out. I used a bleach and water solution and flushed the dispenser several times with water. If this doesn’t fix the issue we will have to verify water flow into the Fabric Dispenser. I do this by placing an external magnet on the left bumper to signal the control board the lid is closed and hold in very slightly the left lid latch on start of cycle to signal the control board the lid is locked. This is done in Service mode, I then turn on the Cold Water valve and the Fabric Dispenser solenoid in Service Mode to cause water flow into the dispenser and verify this action with the lid raised about an inch. This sound like a lot but it's a very easy process to master once ya give it a try. Maybe just a dispenser clean up will get ya going. Good luck and I hope this helps, Rich
That is why my clarification request for your model # in my first post. After your second post I thought you understood that you are in the FAV6800A forum. Try your post over in this forum Maytag LSE7806A Top Load Stacked Washer / Dryer and you may get some help. Please do not rate my post as inappropriate I did ask for clarification of your model number, have a good one :) I hope this post will help a FAV6800A/FAV9800A owner.
These owners don't mention the Mdl# but the are in the
LSE7806A forum and the discuss this issue related to the Fabric softener dispenser.

My machine has a small container on the agitaing post not on the side. There is a removable little cup that one adds the softener to.
When I remove the cup there is a residue of softener inside the hole left on the post. It is here that the softener residue sits.
My machine is not as shown but model LSE7806 ADE a stacked unit with the dryer on top
I followed the recomendations provided by you but still find some liquid fabric softener in the bottom of the container. I will try to use less softener in the machine to see if this helps.
Is it a FAV6800A/FAV9800A machine? If it isI think your Fabric Softener valve (water valve) is not flowing water to the Fabric Softener reservoir. Please verify if it's the above model type and I will give it a try.
