Lost all picture detail in camera

See this link. You have the classic symptoms of image sensor (CCD) failure. Canon will fix this for specific models (yours included) at no cost regardless of warranty status. If you don't live in the US, contact your regional Canon service agency.

If the photo shoot out show white , the obscure (quality variation), and even horizontal line ( white lines), and so on over-exposure cases, even if the use of anti-tremor, set to default values are invalid, because the camera shutter fault.

Can't repair by yourself.
It's need repair camera machine shutter.

Photos have horizontal lines

Ok, first of all......when you transfer the pictures to a computer are the blue lines still in the picture? Also if you reset the camera does the image still come out white?

A lot of times what happens is that there is nothing wrong with the actual picture it is the lcd. When you transfer the picture it looks ok you are only seeing the blue lines on the lcd. That means that the lcd is going out. If you transfer the picture and the blue lines are still in the picture after transfer then we can try to reset the camera as there is something else going on besides the lcd. More that likely it is just an lcd that needs to be replaced.

With a white image that usually means that the white balance is off on the camera. I would recommend resetting the camera and then try retaking some pictures to see if they are still coming out white. If they are then you would have to send the camera in to be repaired.

White washed

there has been a product recall on these cameras as the sensor has malfunctioned and this sounds like whats happened to yours. If you call sony on 08705143480 and speak to them and tell them that you need the details of the product recall then they will run through it with you and if it is the same problem as I think then all you have to do is send it off to sony and they'll replace the sensor free of charge

Pictures look blownout and have lines all along the photo.

Take that camera in anyway. I still beleive you have a CCD problem.

There is a difference in the way the CCD shifts out data when in movie mode and that might be why you still have a good picture.

I personally replace acouple CCD`s on the DSC-F717. And yes Sony paid us on behalve of the customer.

Be nice to the front-end staff when taking it in. It might prove a very good investment.

Good luck.

My pictures are really bright or completely white

Sounds like a major problem and not one which could be tackled on line. If your camera is still under warranty, return it quickly. If not I hope you have deep pockets. You are suffering from either a faulty iris control or faulty video board. With perhaps a little CCD problem to help things along.
