I need to replace the exact headset offered in the Rosetta Stone Italiano Level 1 & 2.

I accidentally ripped headset cord out of usb port leaving only the plug in the port. I can't fix it. I removed it. I need an exact replacement for my Audio companion product. Where can it be purchased and the cost.

I don't need assistance like your Premium Plan! I need to find a replacement for my headset specific for the Rosetta Stone program.

Wiring broke for all five wires in the usb connection of a Rosetta Stone Head Set 20090205. I may be able to re-attach. Where do the wires go on the usb plug?

Open the plug case by prying it apart.
The tiny circuit board is labelled on one side - three connectors for the headset and two for the microphone.
G - headset ground - red/gold wire
R - headset right - blue wire
L - heasdet left - red wire

M+ - microphone + - green wire
M- - microphone - gold wire.

Use hot soldering iron to 'melt' off the tip of the wire coating and apply tiny amount of solder. Place wire in position and solder together.

Finally use electircal tape to hold the plug covers together and continue to tape along the cable so it will not pull out again.

Rosetta Stone Microphone Not Found

This worked for me:

1) Right click on the Rosetta Stone icon in the Start menu
2) Click the "Compatibility" tab
3) Set it to run in compatibility mode with Windows Vista SP2 (mine was defaulted to run in XP compatibility mode, which seemed to be the problem)
4) Start the program again, if you are lucky all mics will now show up

When I plug the headphone/microphone jack into a USB port I can get it to work on my PC using Windows XP, but Rosetta Stone won't recognize it. Is there a driver or some other software needed?

Check out your Mic settings in Rosetta Stone, here are some detailed instructions in a form of a PDF file:

RS V3 Error 1117 - does not detect microphone

I have finally found a solution! I found it by chance on the rosetta stone troubleshooting page. I have nod 3 antivirus + firewall and in the firewall settings the rosetta stone application was blocked (it was denied internet access). I just deleted it from the list and the next time rosetta stone asked for internet access I clicked yes. Now rosetta stone detects both my dynamic microphone and my usb headset and it works fine. Hope this works for everybody.

Headset Problem Rosetta Stone

I found the answer. Rosetta Stone has a problem detecting the mics if the speaker input is not in someway connected to the mic. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I don't care and neither should you.

Follow these steps each time you want to use it and you should be fine.
*I'm on Vista, but this should work for every one.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open Hardware and Sound
3.Open Sound
4.Set Line 1 as your Default Speaker
5. Refresh the Mic list
*All of your mics should now show up.
6. In Rosetta Stone, apply the mic you want and finish the setup.
7.Start whatever language you're using and switch back to the Sound menu.
8.Set whatever speaker you want to use as default.
*Rosetta Stone will continue to work fine until you close it, switch Users, or remove the mic.

In short you have to set the default speaker to LINE 1 to get the mics to appear. Then when you apply the settings switch the default speaker back.
