You should try to contact Microsoft in your country and explain to them what happened. They may be able to help you.

I am not familiar with Macs, but there may be some programs that you can install, and which give you detailed information on the contents (hardware and software) of your computer.

On PCs I use Belarc Advisor.

You are required to have a valid key to use any of the Office Products. If it came installed on your computer, you do not need the disk. The problem you will have is that stores are only selling Office 2010 now. You will probably have to contact Microsoft to see if you can buy a key from them directly.
