We got a Jensen Audio CD-60 player this past Christmas as a gift. So we do not know when or where it was purchased. The disk in it will not turn as it should and there is no sound.. We are using a Power...

Check inside for packing tape to hold the eye in place during shipping or transit, and remove any tape or plastic tabs for the players protection that may be there. Check the player for a time \ date setting, may need the time \ date set. Try another disk not CD\RW but a store bought CD. Try battery's and see if running it on battery's will straighten it out, Last but not least - BE SURE YOUR POWER ADAPTER IS SET FOR THE PROPER POSITIVE - NEGATIVE POLARITY TO THE PLAYER. Look closely at the plug in on the player for a symbol with a circle and a positive and negative sign and check the adapter to match.

My Sony D808K portable CD player will not play a CD. When the door is shut the player should turn the CD and show info on the LCD display, but that doesn't happen. If I press the play button, it tries to...

It's dead. Mine did the same thing, but I noticed also that the disc never spun up fast enough to be read successfully. I'm guessing that the motor just lost its oomph. I imagine that one way or another it's fixable, but with portables so cheap and a player this old not being able to read anything but manufactured CDs, i.e., no CD-R, CD-RW, etc., it's not worth it. And mine was old enough to vote! :)

Volume Control Problems

if the volume control is a rotary dial. The dial itself has gone bad or is worn out.  I'd most likely replace the unit as repair will be about the same price or more.  Buy an mp3 player instead.

The volume is at 20 when you turn the unit on.

This is the default volume level set by the factory for the player. I too experience this on many stereos and cd players. It cannot be changed.      Very sorry.

HOLd popping up

Theres a little switch either on the bottom or along the side you need to slide. It's so you don't accidentally turn your unit on when its not in use.
