Is it working? some amps says low v but is only a feature.lower voltage means lower impedience higher voltage means high output but high imp needed.the indication could mean +-24v not 12.

Did you check the ground wire for that light? Using your voltmeter, put the positive probe on the battery terminal and your negative lead to the pin/socket that provides ground for the lamp. If you are reading 0 volts, you need to check the ground wire for proper grounding.

What voltage should be delivered to the fuel pump on a 2001 Olds alero?? I'm reading 4.6 Volts (anticipated 12 volts). If 12 is required any suggestions on where to look for the decrease.

that's the voltage of the fuel sender unit, i.e. gas gauge. try the other wires. the power goes on for only 2 seconds so you'll need someone else to turn the key while you check this out

Wont turn on i bought it though craigslist

well this is what you do to check it to see if you bought a blown amp.
wire it into your car and then take a digital volt meter check to see if you have power and ground and remote turn on .

take the red lead and put it on the battery wire at amp and the black lead to the ground then see if you get 12volt to 14.4 use the amps ground for the black test lead if nothing you may have blown fuse or bad ground.

check the remote wire same way as about if you get 12 to 14.4 volt it works if not could be blown from radio or bad ground

checking the ground put the black meter lead on ground wire and the red lead on 12 volt power source if nothing a bad ground.

if your get voltage on the remote wire and battery wire and have good ground then you need to call the seller and get your money back ..

When my computer starts the power light will blink and the fan starts. When the computer first had problems it froze and the fan turned on and wouldnt stop. I also smelt a burnt rubber smell. I read to...

Yes the voltmeter measures the voltage.
When you power up the computer to test the voltage on the 4 wire connectors.
Test the voltage red and balck wire should read 5 volts.
Test the voltage yellow an black wire should read 12 volts
If the burning smell is from the power supply then most likely a capacitor has blown in the switch mode power supply.
I would advise you purchase a new power supply, do not try and repair it, these mains devices can be dangerous if you don't have knowledge.

Can kicker 1000x1 amp detect if my speaker is bad and turn itself off?

The Kicker 1000x1 Amplifier does not turn off if their is an Open Line (blown sub) on the Speaker Terminals.

  1. Remove all Speaker Wiring from the Amplifier, leaving the Power, Ground, Remote, and RCA wires plugged in.
  2. If the Amplifier fails to turn on, check your Remote wire for power.
  3. If the Remote wire is powering up with the Head Unit (should be anywhere from 5-12 Volts), check your Power wire for +12 Volts, and check your Ground wire.
  4. If you are getting +12 Volts Power and your Remote wire is putting out 5-12 Volts but your Amplifier still won't turn on, it will need to be serviced.

When we measure from hot to neutral we get between 40 & 50 Volts

this is "phantom voltage." To be sure of this you can try shorting the hot with the ground. Should not short. The voltage isn't dangerous. It often happens when two hot wires are in the same cable. For example a 12/3 romex with a shared neutral. When one hot wire is turned off and the other is still energized, voltage can leak from one wire to the other, causing a reading of 50 or so volts on the non powered wire.

My kenwood kac7201 amp wont turn on but it has power to it

Recheck the voltage precisely like this:

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

You need to confirm that you have 12v DC on the remote turn-on and B+ terminals of the amp.
