Replace antenna My power antenna broke off flush with the mount, and I want to replace it myself. Can I do this without having to remove any part of the fender? From other posts, looks like I just need to remove the outside antenna base. Any tips would help.

SOURCE: Rusted external mounted antenna

If its a "fixed" non adjustable antenna, just sand it down with steel wool and wipe it with silicone once in a while to keep rust off. If there are two "flats" on a conical base, most times it can be unscrewed and replaced. Antennas that slide in and out or electric antennas cannot be removed this way.

SOURCE: small leak in fuel line

A fuel line leak is not a laughing matter and no short cuts should be taken and this can lead to other serious issues. If you fuel line is leaking you should replace the line all together. It is HIGHLY recommended that you do not drive the vehicle until you get it replaced and the chance of fire is extremely high at this point.

As for the antennae it is always best to go with what the factory has installed in your vehicle.

Broke radio antenna

Ive done that a few times over the years when I forgot to push the antenna down when going through the car wash. Depending on where the antenna is, you have to get behind the panel it is mounted on. IE/ The guard, roof, windscreen frame. This will mean removal of whatever panel is behind to get to it.

Tundra antenna removal

You will have to un-install the entire antenna system from the inside.
remove the panel carefully adjacent to the antenna system
undo the bolts and clamps that hold the system in place
you can try and install the new antenna piece without disconnecting the transfer wire that goes back to the radio. But usually you will need to get and install a new system.
just to keep you going in the mean time you could just use a old wire coat hanger "classic" just bend the hook straight and shove it in, you have your sounds back.

I was removing the antenna, and it broke off. Do

Depending on if your car has a power antenna or not, you may have to replace the whole unit.

The good news is, no, you usually don't have to replace the wires on most GM vehicles. Open your trunk, remove the insulating carpet from the side of the trunk where your antenna is located , to expose the power antenna unit.

This is a stock photo of what the power antenna unit and kit looks likes.

Unplug the electrical connector from the antenna . Unscrew the plastic ring on the outside of the car, where the antenna rest on the body of the vehicle. Pull the antenna unit inside through the hole to remove.

You can usually get a new one for about $89 bucks at Autozone.

Installation is the reverse of remove. Make sure the ignition key is completely off when performing the replacement. Follow all installation instruction on the package. Improper installation could cause rain to leak in your antenna during bad weather and not be water tight.

How do you replace the power antenna on a 1996

You need to remove the plastic inner fender well to get to the motor. Likely you will need to remove the kick panel on the passenger side and possibly the glove box to get to the wires.
I recommend using only a factory replacement (even from a scrapyard) as the aftermarket units are often a real pain to mount. Or, you can use a standard antenna (non-power) and just tape off the plug (cheaper, just not "fancy")
Either way it takes some patience running the antenna wore through the body.
good luck

Need to replace power antenna is there any easy way to get old one out without removing door or fender?

The power antenna motor comes out thru the fender well.you have to remove the tire and rim,and loosen or remove the fender well.if the mast is just broke, you can replace it if the plastic gear drive is not broken inside.

Power antenna broke and I need to replace it. How

Buy replacement antenna mast. Remove old one by unscrewing the retaining cap nut. Turn on the radio & let the antenna cable run all the way up while you pull on it to remove it.
Install the new antenna mast by turning the radio 'off' so the spool inside goes back to its beginning while you feed the cable of the new antenna down into the antenna mast hole.
Once the cable is all the way down, reinstall the retaining nut/cap and turn on the radio to allow the spool to run the antenna 'UP.'... cycle the radio ON and then OFF several times allowing the antenna to move all the way up and all the way down.
That's it!

Replaceing a broken antenna mast on a 2005 Ford focus

I am pretty sure if you remove the inside dome light cover and take out the light there is a bolt and nut under there for the base that you can unscrew. By the way where did you buy the parts from, Ford is telling me $70 for the antenna whip?
