Screen works for 3 seconds and shuts

It is quite likey that either the inverter or backlights are faulty. When backlights go faulty they usually show a colour on the screen usually red. Backlights have connectors going into the inverter and they are usually two of them, one for the top part of the screen and the other for the bottom. The inverter is the easier one to replace. Backlights are expensive and sometimes not worth replacing. Check capacitors as well to see if any are bulging at the top and replace. I hope this helps.

Can it be fixed?

Unless you can find a used or broken model for cheap with a working screen it is not worth it.

Dell Inspiron 3520

What you have is a cracked screen. The LCD panel is cracked and is leaking fluids to the rest of your screen, those dots will spread too. This happens when u pick up the computer from the screen. You could try finding a replacement laptop screen, or get a new computer. They aren't that expensive. Make sure you save your hard drive tho!

My monitor is a dell 2000 flat screen 20.1" turns

It is not so difficult to repare if you have scills to open the monitor and scills in un-soldering/soldering electronic components, than yes it is worth it, but if you go to a shop they have a tendency to sell you another monitor since the price they charge to repare the powersupply is about the same as a new monitor

My monitor takes 15 min to light up

Your monitor is on it's last legs. Do not repair it as it is not worth the money. Instead replace it and consider a flat screen tv monitor if it is less expensive. Joe

Crack in the screen. Is it worth getting fixed?

It depends on the screen size and the availability of the new screen. Some manufacturers and repair facilities have access to screens and the cost can be almost as much as a new monitor, and sometimes, the cost can be much more.

A good trick is to find a similar type display that's not working because of the power supply or video board and swap it out with your parts. You can buy a junked out monitor, or non-functioning display from eBay. That will save you some time and money if you REALLY want to repair it, since non-functioning units usually sell for a fraction of what they're worth working.

Conversely, you can sell your broken screen monitor or recycle it too.

My flat screen is scratched how can I fix it

It is very difficult to polish the scratches out. If you apply too much pressure to the surface of the screen you will crack the glass surface and the LCD element, and you will then need to replace the LCD screen.

Hans-G Monitor monitor clicks will not power up

Sounds like capicitor could be faulty, shouldn't be that difficult or expensive to replace. What will cost you more is the labour so depends how expensive they are on that, if it's not too much then yeah it's worth fixing just ask for a quote first.

Cracked face panel on monitor

Yes, the LCD screen "face panel" can be replaced. However, note that this part is the most expensive part of the monitor. If your monitor is more than a year or two old, it may be difficult to find a replacement and it may be more cost effective to simply replace the whole monitor.

Monitor HP 1720 Part n.325113-001

Your actually thinking about it the wrong way.
Replacing the screen in LCD's is more expensive then replacing the monitor. Stupid I know, but that is how they ensure you have to keep upgrading. Same thing applies to a laptop motherboard for the same reason.

You do still have one small light at the end of the tunnel though.
Check around on eBay or similar and you maybe able to find a complete monitor with a dead power board that you can salvage the screen from. Do a search for words like Faulty, broiken, not working in the computer section.

Hope that helps. =)
