1 year old Durabrand PDV-705. Worked fine but now only plays in black and white on internal display. Color works on external TV. Tried turning up color saturation and color controls. no diff. Is the internal screen fried or is there a workaround? (Sorry about the duplicate post-couldn't figure out how to edit my other...)

Re: Screen B&W only: Same as other poster
Screen works you get a black and white image.
The colour stage works you get colour output to TV
So my guess is the ribbon connector from motherboard to screen is loose or adrift.
Is this something you fell you can fix or 'know a man that can?'

You should go to a local electronics shop with the old adaptor.
They merely need to match:
Plug polarity (center positive or negative)
There is nothing "magic" about the original vendors power adapter.
i too have taken mine apart and all the buttons work fine and the board looks great but mine is on the color must be a glich in the programer on the main board and if you go to the lenoxx website you are wasting your time no help what so ever
from small electronics companies and puts it under the Durabrand name.
Very Sneaky. The company that makes the DVD player is called Lenoxx.
There website is www.lenoxx.com. Here is the rest of their contact

It sounds like the circuitry which actuates the color drives for the screen are not working, this would ba analogous to adjusting for a B&W picture on a color TV you have color but the screen shows black and white. I would get a schematic for this set and measure the voltages on the color processor that connects to the screen since you know that the external jack has color. If possible I can help you troubleshoot this, if you need me to help out.
