You could install a lever switch that is fed by the 12+ volt switched head unit feed.

You'll wire it that way so the amp is not left on when the ignition is turned off, and the lever switch serves as a secondary control.

I have a lever switch on my remote to my amp, because "wifie" is allergic to loud....lol

Good luck

When i hook up my amp my speakers wont play music? ive hooked up my rca cables up but i ont know if you hook it up to the input or output frum the cd player?

you rca hookup, back of cd player is rca out, at the amp it is rca in, make shure you hook up blue remote wire, also make shure you have a good ground if not amp will not turn on. if you run wires make shure you run power wire down one side of car and remote and rca down the other, This will keep all motor noise out of system.

My boyfriend hooked up my speakers in my car to my cdx-gt200, now my cd player wont even come on. He never touched any of the connection wires for the player. At first he could not find the remote turn on...

change the fuse behind the system.
"so he hooked it up to the left front speaker wire, then found the remote turn on wire and hooked it up to it." will have burned the sound system or not. remove the new installation, test it, reinstall, test again.

The remote from the amp should be connected to the remote (blue wire) or power antena wire from the radio.

Remote wire

there should be a remote wire for your amplifier on the back of your stereo if you have an aftermarket stereo. It's usually a blue wire, if not you can always hook it to the same remote wire as the one your stereo is running off of.

Well, some how, the wiring for the front speakers didn't get hooked up or hooked up improperly. I assume it is a new cd player? If not, maybe it's the player itself.

Car audio

on the back of he cd player is the wire harnest there should be a SOLID blue wire on there take the remote wire connect it to that and run it to your amp and put it where the amp says remote. there is an easier way you can hook up your power to the amp then take the remote wire and just run it directly to the power wire on the amp you should only need a couple inches of wire and it will work fine

SONY CDX-M8800 STEREO

Red (accessory wire)- goes to hot wire that can be turned off.
Yellow (constant wire) goes to your cigarette lighter
Blue/white is your amplifier remote turn-on wire.
Probably have green and green/white- brown and brown/white-white and white/black, and another color for speaker wires.
You can hook one pair up to your cd player and find out if it's hooked up to the right speaker channel.
Orange (remote antenna) wire.
