Java apps cannot access internet in LG C25...

i downloaded some java apps like gmail etc on my C2500, when these apps try to connect to internet, after a while a message ''connection timed out'' appears, strangely enough GPRS works fine... i am able to access internet through the browser. this problem persists with all the java apps i've tried.... if u cant find a solution at least explain what the problem is... thank you...
