My Nintendo DS Lite got fell into the bathtub! It was probably in the water for at most a second, and I immediately wiped it off and blew in the slots until it seemed dry. When I first turned it on there were faint lines on the screen that move around, like on a television channel with bad reception. They went away after three restarts. Then it worked well, I played it for several hours, but now the lines are back again, and in addition, a low buzzing sound from the DS! I can still turn it on and everything, these are the only problems. Any diagnoses, or remedies? Thanks, I'd surely appriciate it.
I still have my one-year warranty on it, but it'd be nice if someone could tell me how to fix it, since I'd rather my mother not know this.
My sister experienced the same thing - Somehow there was a melted ice pak over me and my sisters NDS so i read the Manual and it said if u move suddenly from a cold place to a warm/hot place water drops may form inside - so dont play or charge the NDS for a few days NOTICE! If it is fixed you may have to blow into it every time you play for aprox. a week

The best way to fix a game (or anything really) that you have spilled water on is to put it in a big bowl of rice where the object needing to be dried will be submerged. Unfortunately that should take place almost immediately and not after a long period of time.
There's no real fix for this-- your game is probably busted forever. Sorry man.

The mainboard of the DS will really cost you much. I suggest that you just get yourself a new DS lite instead of having it repaired. Trust me, doing this will save you from having head aches...
OK FIRST OPEN IT UP AND IF ITS STILL WET PUT IN A BOWL OF DRY RICE FOR 24 HOURS. THE NEXT IT WIL B COMPLETLY DRY. PUT IT TOGETHER AND TRY IT IF IT DNT WORK CHECK THE FUSES. HERE IS A LINK
Well - Your DS is very likely dead at this point. DO NOT "Just Turn It On to Check" This will almost certainly kill it. If you have some basic electrical & mechanical skill, you could take it apart and have a look. Here is the general procedure for electronics that get wet: AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (like immediately) after it gets wet, turn off the device and remove the battery. If it has an internal battery, when you get it open, disconnect the battery immediately. You will be looking for: Corrosion Short-Circuit Burns Remaining Water/Moisture If you have identified any corrosion or burns, best thing would be to chuck it. If there is no visible damage, then pat dry any wet/moist parts. Let the unit sit open in a warm, dry spot for 24h to fully dry. Reassemble without turning on. Charge battery, or put in fresh batteries. Turn on & hope for the best.
In your case, I would do the above, then with a multimeter - check the battery voltage. Then charge the battery for a few hours and check the battery to see if the voltage has increased. If so, you are getting a charge and the unit should power up if it has no damage.
Hope this helps, but really, it's probably dead. You can also find a local firm who fixes water damaged electronics & cellphones to see if they can help you out.
Try, if you can, opening it and hairdrying it on a low heat. Leave it in your airing cuboard for about an hour or so and then put the parts back together and try it again.
You have a defective screen (probably the upper). Replace it with a new one or send it to Nintendo for repair.
Mr. Teacake,
Never...never..put a wet cartridge in the DS Lite. Even when it is left to dry. Water is funnest for avery electronic device. You made for almost 99% certain a short circuit and blown out the microfuse (F1 or F2) on the mainboard. It could be much worse but check F1 & F2 first. See Google for their locations
