    Hi docdave and harvester3

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to start up with the power supply only, battery extruded, but not a good sign. It atempt to start, allow me to enter my safegaurd pass word and died instantly. I have tried several times thereafter, but no luck. So i inserted the battery again and was able to start up successfully. Do you think the charging system on-board is at fault or could it be something drawing drawing too much current? Should i take it in for attention??

    Awaiting your reply soonest.
    Regards
    Hennie Alberts

Hi good day. This is cabler, i have the same problem now, the ac charger will only charge battery but will not run the system even if i took out the battery. HennieA, have you figure out what part of the laptop that needs to be fix?

  • cabler May 20, 2008

Good day Docdave and Harvester3, thank you so much for your continuous assistance to us, i have the same problem now with HennieA, when you plug the ac charger the system power lights up in a second and die right away without the battery, but the ac adapter charges the battery when i install it and the system can be booted up when you remove the ac adapter after 2 hours of charging the battery. the system will not power up while the ac charger is plugged. I hope you can help us troubleshoot this problem.
Kind regards and God bless you guys.

My nx9110 has developed the same problem. It wont run if the AC is plugged in. I can charge the battery and run it for an hour on battery power, but other than that, it is useless.

Any suggestions? New battery? New power cable? New PC?

Unfortunatly lap top batery's and all recharge battery's have what is called a charge memery they do not stand the test of time the more they are recharged the weaker they get. fore instance" When cam corders first came out. they were 12volts. if you charged them and took a volt meter to them (after a charge) they would measure 13.6 volts. after as long as 6months. There battery only charges to 9.5 volts after a overnight charge. SUGESTION TAKE OUT BATTERY' TURN ON UNIT IF IT WORKS FINE FOR A LONG TIME ON AC. THEN I BELIEVE IT IS A BAD BATTERY. hard to believe it is a charge problem with unit. REMEMBER the problem with sony battery"s last year that caused fire to lap tops DOCTORDAVE good luck Henniea

Hi, Does the unit run off of the battery? Also, try running the unit without the battery. This tells us several things. Nice unit; I'm working on a similar one now. good luck Harvester3

My guess is the charge lamp on, what does not charging mean.
  1. charge lamp on,?
  2. battery volts, not 13.3 to 15vdc running, idle 800?rpm?
  3. is charge lamp glowing key on, if fix that now. not running, it must glow or some ALTS will not boot up, called cold excitation current, that some NEED. fix the lamp.
  4. wiring bad. to alt. or alt casing not grounded.
  5. or car stalls.?
  6. or battery goes dead when you sleep or long day at work>?

Charging problem

Check that your alternator is actually charging the battery. With volt meter and car running check for at least 13.5 volts at battery. If not check fuses, big red wire from alternator to battery and for actual output of alternator at bolt where big red wire attaches to alternator. Should have battery voltage with car not running and at least 13.5 when engine is idling(motor running)

My sons1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee had the gauges light on and would not start like battery was dead. Had it jump started and it started. When he put in park it stalled jumped again and worked.

Sounds like a charging system problem and the alternator may not be working. The gauge light will come on if the charging gauge is showing low so you will look at the gauges. Have the battery and charging system tested

Tried 3 new batterys, had alternator checked, had a new serpentine belt installed as per recall notice from Mitsubishi for 08 lancer, had certified techs from Mitsubishi dealer installed new belt car started...

If you know for sure the battery, alternator, and serpentine are OK. then (A) you might need more power to start than your battery can produce. This is not likely because the jump battery does the job. (B) are not really charging because of a bad connection at ground, battery cable, or fuse. You can test this with a volt meter. You might try checking the battery condition just after running by turning on the headlights and see what they do when you try to start. You can check it again a few hours later. (C) Something in the car is draining power. You can check this by (1) disconnecting the ground cable at the battery, (2) charging the battery, (3) connect a test lamp between the the battery cable and the battery. If the test lamp glows, some device is pulling power with the ignition off. Pull fuses one at a time until the test light goes out. (replace the fuses if the light stays on.) Then find the component on the fuse that is grounded and fix it. Look for simple stuff like a wire with bad insultion at one spot or maybe a bad cigar lighter.

99 suzuki vitara v6 turns on all power but wont

the starter uses 10x more elect. power than the head lamps
or 100x more than dash lamps. it means little.
what matters most is jumper cable starts.
does it crank with jumper cables to a running, donor car,(aaa jump)
no bad starter
no, bad starter key line( immobliizer or such) ask how to test.
yes, cranks great, now.
that means the battery was dead,
i charge the battery and it now cranks, due to lights left on or
charge system failure, if battery goes to 13.3 to 15v running good
if on the charge system failed. (causing battery discharge)
if after charging a battery it will not crank car, its a bad battery (jumps ok)

New battery new alternator battery still wont charge ??

91 , (is the charge lamp glowing key on, (shoe drops)?????
there are many ways to make it stop doing 13.3v to 15vdc running,
lots. ill list them all..
the 2 stated. in blue above. and.
1: bad dash lamp this lamp boot staps the field current or the alternator is born dead. so is it dead key on, , yes, BINGO.

2: bad alt ground, or starter top bolt , ground to battery bad or loose.
3: bad wires to the rear of alt. all 3.
4: bad battery cables. (or just corroded ends or conn. wrong)!!!
5: alt belt loose or missing.
6: engine hot RPM not 750 to 850 Rpm if 500 BINGO.
and more.

here is the drawing.
IS the sense wire is dead, not 12vdc.???

http://www.fixkick.com/Charging/charge89.jpg

the reg inside can shut the ALT down for.
over voltage
over current.
or if it THINKS(sic) that the batter internal resistances is too high. for ANY REASON what so ever. it will shut down
these protections prevents the ALt. from blowing expensive electronics (all of it) to kingdom come. $$$$$

its a feature.

2004 Dodge Durango. When it set over night there is not enough charge in the battery to turn over the engine. The battery is one and half years old.

Maybe the alternator is not charging the battery up well. To test, put a voltmeter on the battery, engine running. If voltmeter is less than 13.5 volts, suspect a weak alternator-have it tested.
If charging system and alternator is good-charging between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts, have the battery tested. Even though not old, it may have a dead cell. A parts store can load test it and see.
If battery and alternator are both good, you may have an unintended drain on the battery. You can check this by, first charging up the battery, then leave the negative terminal off the battery overnight. If it starts good next day, there may be a drain, something like a glove box light, an under hood light, a radio amp left on.
Post back if you want help with finding an unintended drain.

Fix 1997 cadillac deville concours charging system

Charging voltage should be around 14 volts or more for battery to be properly charged. If significantly below that the alternator is not working properly.

Daughter called me ..car wont start. checked battery at Autozone...it is good. someone stopped to help them and bang on startere and it starts up. Bad starter. Starter replaced. Next day daughter...

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

My Nikon S4000 (black) won't charge. I've tried plugging and unplugging the cable in the socket. I've made sure the cable is connected properly into the camera's port. I've tried charging via the computer...

Follow this order:
when plugging in the camera and then plugging into the compuer does the computer recognise it? If not this is either a bad cable, or not an active USB port, or something has gone wrong interanlly with the camera. Internal can be anything from bad voltage chip to bad battery. But some people have put the battery in backwards or with the positive terminal the wrong way. Double check that this has not happened, as anyone could have done it, unless you live alone. Try another computer and see if it recognises that camera if so the cable is good and you can continue to trouble shoot in other areas.
