We had this same problem. Linksys was giving it an IP in the wrong network range, no default gateway (like a room with no out door), and no DNS. We had to manually configure it. I believe my router is going to be with our lord soon.
If you go into your Xbox network settings you can set a static IP. Choose one below the dHCP range. Our DHCP is 192.168.1.100-.200 so we assigned 192.168.1.50, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.1 then go into your router settings and find the DNS it is connected to. (From your computer, type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your browser, go to status and you'll see primary dns, secondary dns.) Put those DNS values into the Xbox. Run the test again. It should work. The Connecting to XBox live test failed the first time, but we were able to play online games and download content, so I think it was just an artifact.
When Linky starts giving problems like this, it's probably having issues and may need to be replaced soon.

Xbox configures the connection automatically as long as it is able to detect an internet connection(either wired or wireless). For wirless connections though, make sure xbox is using the correct security key or wep key for the wireless connection.

Port 88 UDP problem

1) You have to enter UDP and TCP on seperate lines with same port numbers in each line respectively. So you will have four lines, UDP 88, UDP 3074, TCP 88 and TCP 3074. Also, make sure you have your 360's IP entered. You can find that in the 360 network info.

2) Also, place your 360's IP in the DMZ. That should help.

3) For testing, turn off the routers Firewall. It will make it easier to figure out what is going on.

I recieve error that I can't get a Ip adress. WEP security password goes to the router but no Ip adress is making it back . I've tried loading a static IP adress, using another unsecured network. resetting...

Try using the HEX password instead of the ascii passphrase - also try to reset your AP temporarily in order to test the connection without ANY wireless security - if that doesn't connect, then the problem probably lies in the wireless router itself.

Failed Ip adress for xbox live

First i want to know how is your xbox 360 connected to the internet? For example ( Modem Connection?, Router Connection?, Or Wireless Connection?

Here are some steps that you need to try:

1. Turn off your cosole wait for 20 seconds and then turn it back on, then test your xbox live connection

2. Go to your network settings

3. Select restore to factory defaults and test your xbox live connection

My xbox 360 says i need an IP adress

The XBOX is configured for connecting to a router or server that will assign it an IP address. Connect it to your router instead of your laptop.

Right ip adress in xbox360 but it keeps failing..?

You don't set the IP address (You can but that's a whole nother story, IP address' have to be unique to the device), you need to let your router assign one automatically. Two devices on the same network can't have the same IP address or it will fail to function completely.

Ip adress

this is not a fault with the xbox 360 rather it is a problem you have with your internet connection or router. you'll have to check or possibly renew dhcp (the protocol that issues ip addresses on your router if you use one) or contact your isp about it.
