Question about VuPoint DC-MDV330-VP Digital Camera
Mine just started doing the "Black Screen of Death" that according to numerous 'net sources is also quite common with Sony products. Since mine is almost two years old and out of warranty, and has seen somewhat moderate use , I took it carefully apart and found the problem : a very flimsy and fragile, cheaply made ribbon-harness to the screen that makes some contortionist-like twists as it goes to the hinged display. After opened and closed numerous times, the flimsy ribbon-harness has obviously developed a break in the wiring harness. Solution: DO NOT buy hinged or flip up/out digital display devices if you expect any longevity out of the device !
VuPoint Solutions has gone to great measures to hide any direct contact with them via internet concerning problems like this, I've not found any way to contact them to find out what it would cost to get mine repaired .
