\Windows\System32\Config\System; Repair w/CD-ROM; NO CD-ROM

My Daughter got an Acer Aspire One for X-mas and today when she turned it on it got a error message, file missing or corrupt: \Windows\System32\Config\System.... You can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. The problem is there is no CD-ROM on the laptop. There are USB ports but no CD- ROM. Please HELP! Thanks

Yes I am positive. It is an Acer Aspire One. It was purchased at Walmart over the Xmas holiday for roughly $298 - $350. No disk drive at all.

If you can get an external cd/dvd drive from a friend, then you could solve the problem.

other solutions would mean that you will reinstall windows again. This takes more time and has a few tricks to be done from a flash drive.

Windows system32 config on my aspire one howcan ifix no cd rom drive

You can try doing a system restore, this laptop has a built in recovery partition. When you boot the laptop press ALT and F10 key to access the recovery console. From there you can do a system restore. Keep in mind you will lose all data after the recovery. If you just want to repair windows you will need to get a USB CD ROM drive and you will need the Windows CD.
