Light stripe on scans

Im only scanning in black and white, when i do so theres a stripe right of center that is alot lighter than the rest of the image. there doesnt appear to be any mark in the scanner glass and it looks like the stripe is in the same position as the metal rod inside the scanner along which the scanner head travels. can anyone help?

Re: light stripe on scans

I have a Canon Lide 25 and I had a thin black stripe with a fat rainbow stripe in color mode and a bright light in grayscale mode.

I use canon scan toolbox, I checked the box for "display the scanner driver", in the advanced mode tab find calibration and click on execute.
If you have a different Canon scanner with a different software, look for calibration or adjustment.

Re: light stripe on scans

Possible causes, CCD failure, smudges or marks that can only be picked up by the CCD if the underside of the scanner glass is dirty. Uninstalling/reinstalling your scanner driver will eliminate if its software related or not. From the looks of it, could be with the CCD if the lines are in the same area with every scan attempted.

How to have white background on small documents

All areas outside of the document will be black only. I don't know how you were getting white background.
If you want white background around your scanned image, a) stick the check (in this example) onto a white paper and scan the whole sheet. Ensure double detection is off. b) You can also do this in software, by cropping a larger area outside the scanned image.

There are many options to view the scanned image like Actual size or Fit or Fit vertically or Fit width. The same image will appear different in each case.

I am getting a thick black lline on my scanned immages

You need to adjust the position center of the scan materials.. The scanner pulls sheets fronm the center of the feeder. Using a single sample page to scan.. You need to move the feed guides the same distance as your black line - either to left or right as appropiate.. (Which side is the mark?) to find the center w/out leaving black line edges. Keep adjusting it till you eliminate the black line. Foxed me good first time I saw it..

Faulty scanned images

Pls check your color Scan settings. Generally there will be some color difference between the original and scanned Image because, the original is 'reflected light' whereas, the scanned image is a 'source light' on the monitor. The monitor setting can also affect the color output. S. Mohan

Re : CanoScan N640P/Lexmark Printing Problem.

There could be a setting in your scanner drivers to fix that. It would be under background settings.

The other thing you can do is preview the document first and select the area you want to scan. Then press the scan button again. That way the black background that isn't needed will not print.

Black line scanning on digital sender

Yes. There will be an access cover / lid where the document goes in.

Open the cover, and you will see a thin glass, called the 'scan glass'.

Look in the middle of the glass. You will most likely find a glob of white-out, or ink on it.

Use rubbing alcohol to clean off the culprit.

Broad light stripe down whole scan

Have you tried to do a cleaning of the color heads. Use a cotton swab, the same kind you use to clean your ears with rubbing alchy on it an clean the heads of the color injectors. If this dose not correct the problem then try changing out cartrages. IE if it is a grey stripe change out your black ink. If it is a pink stripe change out the color ink.

This has something to do the brightness chosen. In the manual mode, if you choose a dark output, the output will have tis area also; if you choose, lighter output, it will omit. In the auto scan mode, the scanner decides what is the best output.

Epson 1640 SU problem, faint yellow line while scanning

Perhaps this: the scanner calibrates itself on a white strip above the place where the lamp is in rest. When there is a spot on that white strip, the scanner wil use the retreived information for the whole scan, resulting in a line on your scan.
