Ice Dispenser keeps getting frosted over and not dispensing ice

The problem your having is that the door in the dispenser chute isn't closing completly and warm air is coming in, clashing with the freezer and the moisture in the warm air freezes and collects right there in the chute causing the ice build up. The more common parts that may cause this is the door flapper being bad or damaged, flapper soleniod, which helps the flapper doofr get a good seal, and electronic board on the dispenser itself.

Flap on Ice chute came off I need to put it back on. Whirlpool Refrig. With water and Ice with a flap over the ice to keep hot air from getting in.

I'm in the middle of the same problem on my own refrigerator right now. The flapper swings on a steel pin which passes through a stationary plastic tab. That plastic tab can break off, allowing the door to fall out of position. Look up into the mechanism to see if this is your problem. Whirlpool makes a modification kit, part #8201756. It's not on the original parts list, so do a web search for Whirlpool 8201756. I hope this helps.

Flapper in ice chute remains in open position.

Solved via another post. Appears that the solenoid that moves the flap needs to be replaced. Already ordered the replacement. It's easy to remove the plastic facing without removing the entire trim around the chute opening. About one inch in at the inside top of the chute area there are three small holes. Starting with the leftmost hole, use a small phillips screwdriver to push up while using the other hand to pull out on the left side of the plastic part that houses the water/ice selection buttons. Then do the center one, followed by the rightmost one. That exposes the inside plastic housing which is removed by taking out the four screws. Its easy to get to the solenoid that has to replaced - unclip the wiring and remove three screws. Then reverse the process.

Ge profile artica ice dispenser and chute frosing.

This may be because the chute door is not all the way shut when off. If yes the warm moist air is being pulled through the opening and causing this. Sea Breeze

Try cleaning the edges of the flap and the ice chute as well. Once you've done that, check to see if the pivot rod is fully engaged at end side, as having it out of position could be causing it to "hang up" and not fully close.

If the rod has been knocked out of position, reposition it with your hands then you can lightly lube each end at the pivot points, with a food grade silicon lubricating spray. Use ONLY a food grade lubricant so you don't end up getting nasty tasting ice cubes or contaminating the cubes as they pass thru the chute and flap.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, you'll need to remove the chute & flap assembly from the dispenser section of the door and check for the return spring engagement, as it may have become disconnected and as a result, isn't closing the flap fully, as it should.

To do this, you'll need to remove the trim bezel around the dispenser section with a plastic putty knive (to avoid scratching the trim). be very careful when prying the bezel, do it VERY carefully so as not to snap/break the trim piece. Once you have that removed, you can see and get at the retaining screw(s) that hold the chute & flap assembly on the door panel.

Check the line drawing attached for proper part placement of the spring (part #63) and for seeing how your particular dispenser is attached to the freezer door.

I have a frigidaire side by side. the ice dispenser lever and black gasket flap is digusting. How can I get it aprt to clean them?

If you look up into the dispenser area, you'll find a small (1/4") hex head screw that holds the one side (right side I believe) of the ice dispenser chute and flap in place. You can remove the screw and the clip that holds the assembly in place and you can remove the chute and flap from the door.

Once you have that out, you can cleam them with warm soapy water (don't use any harsh chemical cleaners to prevent damaging the plastic, etc.) Dry all parts and then you can put them back on.

I'd stuff a towel into the opening to prevent ice buildup while you're cleaning the parts, just to be sure to not have any other problems occur.

You can re-install them by reversing the steps described.

You can also try to just unclip the chute, but you could break it or the dispensing lever/arm in the process, hence the reason for removing the assembly instead.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards
