    keep getting error message 5010

  • Lydia Oct 18, 2008

Canon MP810. The error code 5010 appeared on the lcd screen and stopped the procedure of printing in the middle.
After turning the pixma off, I turned it on and the message U13 about not being able to detect the black ink appears.

In my case, I have that 5010 error as well and we called in the technician to solve our problem under the 2 year warranty that was given to us. Apparently, the motherboard has issues and had to be replaced.

It can be simply a disconnected ribbon coming from the scanner. It is easily disconnected and it is sufficient to connect again by opening the right side of the printer (three screws) and carefully puting it again in place without diconnecting it again (very easy!!)

Error code 40, found problem, still wont start

you can disconnect the battery to clear the codes. If I remember correctly the code 40 is indicating an open injector circuit. You might want to check that area as well as the service manual for more detail

Canon pixma MP600, error code 5010, what does it mean ? Can not turn the printer on for any other purpose, no scanning, copying or printing.

There are a few things you can try:
  1. Power reset; press and hold the Power button until it the machine starts a diagnostic mode; if this doesn't turn on the machine, unplug it for 10 minutes and upon plugging it back in, see if the error reset itself
  2. Unplug all USB devices (including the printer) and reboot the computer. Once the computer has rebooted, plug in the printer, allow it to install (it should install automatically) and see if the error is corrected. Sometimes there can be a temporary conflict and the only way to solve it is to remove all other USB devices (this can work for external hard drives too).
The overall issue with error code#5010 is a scanner malfuntion. If the problem returns, check the ribbon cable as it runs from your scanner to the main logic board. If all is secure and you still have the problem, the printer may need a new logic board.

Canon pixma mx700 error code 5010

5010 is a scanner error from the scanner on top. Canon has no parts for these and you can only replace the entire top of your machine. If you can get it apart, you might clean and lube, but it's not made to be opened.

Error code 5010

Canon Tech Support directed this solution and it worked. It is similar for all electronic devices like Routers also. These devices need their "electrical brains" refreshed occasionally. 1. Turn off the printer (MP 830) or other 2. Disconnect the printer from the power outlet (totally unplug the printer) 3. Wait for 1 minute - not less than that. 4. Plug the printer back in to the electrical outlet. 5. Turn the printer on

Error code 5010

I got the error code 5010 today (scanner lock switch). I called Canon. The printer's electrical circuitry (brain) needs to be refreshed. This is similar to wireless routers and other devices. They directed me as follows: 1. power OFF the printer 2. Unplug the printer's power cord from the electrical source. 3. Wait AT LEAST 1 minute - no less than 1 minute. 4. After 1 minute, plug-in the printer to the electrical source. Turn on the printer - wait for it to warm up as usual and it should be ok. Mine worked perfectly after the above steps. - Hope this helps.
