Stalling on our 96 Dodge Caravan

Car starts and runs fine - until a few miles have passed - then stalls- barely idles, dies if you touch the gas. Today I have atttached a test gauge to the injector supply manifold. 60 psi at start, after a few miles drops away to 10psi or less, and then stalls. Does this confirm fuel pump failure?

    Thanks for helping. The car will restart and pressure will breifly come up again after maybe a 5 minute wait. We can get underway but then pressure drops again and the car stalls.



    Am I right in thinking that it would be unusual for a filter to intermitantly clog?

    It could also be the fuel pump relay or fuel filter.

Once a filter plugs its pluged. You drop that much pressure its time for a new fuel pump.

Its a 115000 btu multi fuel.it starts up,runs a few seconds,then shuts off.it doesnt smoke or anything wierd,it just shuts off.

It can be low fuel pressure issue or clogged fuel pump. Or its engine related issues,---------------

Our 1995 Dodge caravan starts fine dies.

Do the following

Here are the most common causes of idle surge, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

91 volvo 240 - keeps stalling out, shakes a lot when idling

for the cheapest TEMPORARY solution get some fuel injector cleaner and get on the gas fo about 5 mile at like 100 - 120 miles an hour thats what idid to mine last week hasnt wanted to die out since. good luck.

Stalling at lower speeds

either fuel filter stoped up , air filter, the egr valve stuck open ,or a vaccum leak
