Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Browser freezing and no memory

Often my browser will freeze and i'm unable to use any buttons. I have to turn it off at the consol by holding down the standby button for several seconds. Some websites seem to be worse than others but none I think are immune. Also, I often get the message that there is insufficient memory, and must delete some pages (or all). Sometimes the screen will just go blank with the message 'Insufficient memory, you have been returned to a blank page'. The PS3 has a cache of 8MB? I reset the cache, but I don't know if that helps. Is it me, the PS3 or ...?

It sounds like you have an early version of the system software on your PS3. There have been a number of updates to address bugs created by the earlier versions of the software. You can get the latest update here: http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/SystemUpdate

Try loading that onto your PS3, and see if it solves the problem.

My playstation 3 beeps twice and then freezes mid game not even allowing me to turn off the system without using the back switch

Sounds like a firmware issue. Happened to me after I had an update. I was told by Sony to wait for another update. Turned out it fixed the problem. Also check on your memory, if you're running low..delete some etc...might resolve. Lastly hold down the front power button for 5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps release it and this should reset. Hi my playstation keeps freezing and everytime i follow the instructions on the playstation it freezes again. it now wont start correctly. Could you help me please ?

Hello,

Hello

your PS3 is freezing simply because your console is affected by heat, so you have to cool it down. If the freezing continues even after cooling down, you can follow the steps below:

To stop the PS3 from Freezing, you could begin by putting off your console and wait for 20 minutes. After that, put it back on. Check if there's any loose cables. If there is, put them back in.

If the problem still persist, try the below steps,

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System.

Take care.

You can also try the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your Ps3.

Update your PS3 (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS3 then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as
well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS3 on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS3 off at the back with
your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

But if your problem is not still solved, then maybe you should call sony for further assistance.

I wish you good luck.

listen just hold down the button, i'm not sure how long like you hear 2 beeps then 3 or something and it will take you to a screen with 6 or so options - choose restore file system, you shouldn't loose data if your lucky, anyway i had a very similar problem and my ps3 sat for a year before i was smart enough to figure this one.
