Question about Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

PV GS 35 wont play tapes from other cameras

Hi I bought a panasonic PV GS35 filmed some stuff and made little iMovie videos with it. Everything seemed fine. Then, I borrowed another little handheld camcorder made by Cannon and filmed with it. I gave that camera back and tried to use my PV GS35 to review the tape but the sound cuts in and out. I tried to capture the video onto iMovie and while playing the tape through my PV GS35 several frames were completely omitted. I also tried using tapes fimed in a Panasonic 3CCD camera. The same thing happens. All of these cameras use the same mini DV tapes. Is there a reason why the PV GS35 only plays tapes fimed on the PV GS35 or is this camera messed up? Thanks Paul

Re: PV GS 35 wont play tapes from other cameras

Perhaps it has to do with the SP and LP settings, I know certain video editing programs won't capture video recored in LP.

Blue lines on panasonic camcorder playback mode

Mine is doing the same thing. It looks like the film holes on a 35 mm film camera or and old 8 mm video camera. It plays fine just can't get rid of the blue marks. Anyone with a suggestion?

Panasonic PV-GS35 will not connect to iMac, so can't upload video from mini DV cassettes into iMovie. when I connect with my USB cable, nothing shows up on the iMac saying that the camera or a "N0_NAME"...

So if it's miniDV and you have a firewire cable, it should work. Have you followed this sequence:
If your battery is sufficiently charged to run the cam for an hour's worth of tape, fine, otherwise connect cam to AC power. With cam OFF, connect Firewire cable to Mac and cam. Open iMovie, name your project and create so that the viewer screen comes up. Turn on the cam. At this point, your Mac should, within moments, say "camera connected". Cam needs to be set on "playback" mode for capture. Then click "import" button and your Mac will control the cam.

If you still get a "no camera connected" you have to consider the possibility that either the firewire cable is bad or the firewire port on cam or Mac is bad. If you have more than one firewire port on your Mac, try switching. An Apple store should be able to help you determine if you have a bad cable or cam port, if you take both in to try on their Mac. Hope this gets you on track.

Panasonic pv gs 180 can't import into imovie

Hi, I managed to down load mine by connecting with a firewire and setting the camera to playback mode (not PC), opening imovie, turning the camcorder on and selecting file -' import from camera". a screen came up then I started playback on the camcorder and was able to select import from the screen on the imac.

Playback problems - timer stays at zero

Firewire transfer problem with PV-GS320. HAd bought the PV-GS90 and ran into significant transfer issues importing to Mac (iMovie and Fincal Cut Express HD both had problems). Upgraded to GS320 as Macworld rated it highly. Same problems: video plays back perfectly with no computer connection. once connected, video and audio stutter, go out of sync, sometimes just stop and/or crash the program.

I've used a borrowed Canon GL with this Mac before with no issues, so I suspect the camera. Have tried reset button, trashing preferences, restarts, the works. still can't get clean video to transfer from a brand new camera. Any Ideas?

Can I have a driver for panasonic pv gs35 driver vista?

You don't need a driver. Just connect the camera using the cable provided with it; turn the camera on and set it to play movies. The first time it will upload the necessary drivers. THen, use Windows movie maker (it's included in vista, my version at least) to import the movie (if you don't find it, click on the start button and type "movie" on the search box). It's much better than the crappy software provided by panasonic anyways.
