To setup AOL/AIM as an IMAP account on your DROID X: To setup AOL or AIM on your DROID X once you have already set-up your handset, follow directions below. If you are adding the account during your handset's initial startup, skip down to Set-up account menu (Instruction #3).
OpenApplications tray, touch My Accounts
You will be at theSet-Up accountsmenu with several other social network icons.
Enter your full AOL/AIM email address, including "@aol.com" or "@aim.com" domain name in all lower case.
Enter AOL/AIM password.
LeaveAutomatically configure accountchecked.
Tap onNext. Handset will connect to your email server and state "Success!" if account was set-up correctly.
*Important* Before attempting any of the below steps, please make sure your device has been properly backed up either to your computer or iCloud. 1. Confirm that you are able to sign in with the same user information on AOL's website. If you are unable to, the fix may be as simple as resetting your email password through AOL. (This step should be completed online, not on your iPhone. 2. Are you running the latest iOS? (If unsure, tap "settings" on the iPhone, then "General", and the 2nd tab within General should read "Software Update".) This tab will let you know whether or not your iPhone is completely up to date. If it is proceed to Step 3. If not, simply tap the Update tab and see if it fixes the issue. The majority of iPhone problems can be fixed with a simple software update. 3. Remove all email from the phone under the "mail, contacts, and calendars" in the "Settings" app. Once all email accounts have been deleted from the phone, restart the device and input the email information again only this time choose "Microsoft Exchange" as the account type. If you are unfamiliar with setting up an Exchange account read below-- Email: your AOL email address spelled correctly-- Domain: AOL.com-- Username: AOL username (usually your email address)-- Password: your AOL sign in/email passwordOnce the information is entered correctly, hit the "Next" button in the top right hand corner. Upon verification you will be prompted for the "Server" underneath the "Email" tab. -- Server: imap.aol.comIf none of the above fixes this issue, I would recommend visiting the nearest Apple store as they will either DFU the phone (replace the firmware) or give you a brand new phone. Hope this helps, Jackson
You need to set the outgoing mail server to one you can send from your iphone, ie the one your network carrier lists as you cannot send email through an AOL server unless you are using an AOL connection
firstly you will need a account with either yahoo mail, google mail, .mac mail or AOL mail, when you have got one of those accounts you need to seti it up on your iphone, to do this go into "mail" on your iphone, it will display the 4 mail service providors then click on the one you signed up for like yahoo mail for example, it will show 4 boxs to fill so fill in each box and then click save in the small box, then your ready to send and receive your mail.
