Can't access DVD Setup menu due to lack of original remote
I'm trying to access the setup menu for my sony slv-d100. The manual says to do this via the "set up" button on the remote, but we no longer have the original remote, and are using a universal remote that does not have this button. Is there another way to access the setup menu?

You have to setup the DVD by its setup codes with Xfinity. If you wish to get more details, check this site. Pull up previous posts there. Setup code list and setup proceedings to
many popular brand remote controls are given.
Three digit, four digit, five digits and two-digit code list are
there. Check the site with
patience. Surely you'll get a solution
to your problem. Search the site by
'Timeslide' option. It will make search
easy. Or, type in the brand name to
your device into its search box, and press "Enter" Setup code list, and setup proceedings to Xfinity remote control is given in detail.
You can buy a universal remote, any best buy will carry one, I have even found cheap ones at dollar tree or dollarama. They come with a manual with the codes for the make of your TV just follow the coding instructions until you find the one that will operate your TV.
Good luck
I had the same problem at first as well. After an hour of frustration, I broke out the manual (imagine that! :) Come to find out, you cannot set the clock when in COMPONENT or SVIDEO mode. When I got the "For this setup, TV connection should be to DVD&VCR output" message, I can immediately switch the TV to RF mode (coax input mode) and voila!... the clock setup screen is available. I think it has something to do with the auto time sensing through the cable tv input. So, my advice - always be in RF mode (CH3 or CH4 depending on what you have the SLV-D300 set to) if you want to set the clock.
Note*** Yes, I agree it was idiocy on the part of the programmers in choice of wording for that error. A simple "Must be in RF mode to set clock" would have been much more helpful.
