if ice maker is cycleing then it is either water frozen at the tube where water comes in. if it is then shut off refrig. remove icemaker and thaw tube out with a hair dryer. makeing sure not to melt plastic in the back panel of freezer. if it is plastic. if it is not plugged then it is either a bad water valve or the watervalve switch in the icemaker.
This is most likely cause because some part of the ice maker/distribution mechanism is broken. If at all possible, remove everything from the fridge and freezer and allow the freezer to thaw. If that is not possible, you could try and remove just the ice maker to thaw it or try and thaw it while it is still in the freezer. I hope this helps and have a nice day!
Try using a hair dryer to thaw out the rubber tubing leading to the ice tray. On mine, I opened up the front door to the icemaker and found the rubber tubing leading in. I squeazed it, it felt frozen, so I applied heat. Water began dripping out, the area thawed, and I had ice again within a short period of time.
Hello, Check the water fill tube to see if it may be frozen. It's a tube about 3/8" wide that hangs over the tray. Squeeze the tube and if it is hard, it"s frozen, if it is soft, you have another problem. If it's hard, take a hair dryer and thaw out the tube and you ice maker should be fixed. I hope this helps. Water solenoid to ice maker not working. Check with ohm meter..should NOT read open Water line to Ice maker frozen solid. Look at water inlet to ice maker....is ice present in line? Evaporator coils frozen over with ice. Will cause water line to freeze and unit will slowly thaw. Try unplugging the unit for several hours and see if it starts to cool normally again. If it cools normally then check heater element and Defrost Thermostat.
take off the cover to the ice maker. make sure the 2 tabs in the middle of the main gear are in tack and not broken. if one of those tabs is bent or broken, the gear will not make a full rotation. if the gear is fine, check your fill tube in the back of your freezer that goes to the ice maker and make sure it is not frozen. if it is, it will need to be thawed. does your unit have a water filter? if so,it may be plugged and need to be changed. the last thing would be an issue with the water value itself. Today, I removed ice maker and auger motor. Found out this morning that water was running down the back of frig. inside, everything in freezer was frozen together. Found this out after removing all food from freezer. When i looked into the ice maker where water enters, that was frozen solid. After thawing and checking everthing. I put it back together in freezer. It is nine oclock now, and I do have cubes. I really can't tell you what I did, except thaw it all out. It's been running for four hours now and it seems to be all right.
check to make sure the water hasn't frozen in the tube that it should fill the tray with. Please let me know if this isn't the problem and I can further assist you. If frozen, you should thaw out the freezer to get it working again.
