We had a power outage a couple of nights ago and the key pad stopped working along with the oven. I discovered the SAB code and have attempted to deactivate it but now I get a code that reads "eo sab" and no response from the key pad. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Here is a useful tip in identifying a frequently reported problem on some model ranges and wall ovens equipped with an Electronic Range Control (ERC) or Electronic Oven Control (EOC).An “error” code display of “Sabb" or “Sab” will be displayed and the range or oven will not function. This is called “Sabbath Mode" and it may be costing you unnecessary charges in service call fees. This is NOT a problem, but actually a feature provided by some manufacturers to enable customers of certain religious faiths to honor the Sabbath. The range will not function at all during this period and cannot be reset by unplugging the unit or turning it off. In your owner/operator's manual there should be a section that refers to "Sabbath Mode" under the control panel features and operation. This "problem" is a minor operator issue and is not a malfunction of the appliance. This is commonly reported by customers to service companies to have corrected, but the repair is unnecessary, and usually NOT covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. The reason: It is a designed feature of the appliance and considered “operator error” in most cases. What this means is you may be paying someone big money to push a couple of buttons and “fix” something that could have taken you minutes to correct yourself.Sabbath Mode can inadvertently be activated by pressing the wrong sequence of control panel buttons, or following a power outage. The procedures for turning Sabbath Mode on/off are referenced in your owner operator manual under operating instructions.Manufacturers provide different procedures for activating and deactivating the mode, so instructions may differ.I hope this helps avoid the need for a service calls in the future and saves you money.
This is SB mode, show room mode. To deactivate showroom mode, remove power and reapply. Press Cancel to bypass programming clock. Within 60 seconds of reapplying power, press Oven Light key and top oven Timer key simultaneously.
Hello & Welcome to FixYa SAB is not a error code and is displayed when the unit is set up to Sabbath mode. To reset this error code you can press and hould the CLOCK pad which is located below the display for around 15 seconds. If the problem returns then it is recommended to leave the unit unplugged for 72 hrs so that the problem is solved. Please get back to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
This is the Sabbath feature on my Kenmore Elite Electric Slide in Range. My oven manual says to press both the (timed oven) "cook time" button and the "delay start" button at the same time for approx. 3 seconds and this should shut down the feature. I had the same problem, tried the above and it worked.
The PF on your control indicates a power failure and should be removed by pressing the cancel button. The 5ab code indicates the range is in the SABBATH mode.
If a power failure occurs when the SABBATH mode is set, the oven will return to the OFF mode and will turn the power OFF to the oven.
To ENABLE SABBATH mode:
* Open the oven door * Press STOP/CLEAR * Press both the HOUR "UP" and "DOWN" arrow pad at the same time - and hold for 5 seconds. SAB ON will disappear from the display.
To disable SABBATH mode: Repeat the steps above and SAB OFF will appear.
To set the SABBATH mode for use during the SABBATH/Holidays: * Press BAKE * Pres TEMP "UP" and "DOWN" Arrow pad to enter a different temperature other than 350 degrees. (Between 170F and 500F) * Press COOK TIME * Press HOUR/MIN "up" or "down" arrow to set cook time * Press DELAY START to set a delayed cook time (optional) * Press and hold TIMER OFF for 5 seconds SAB will appear on the display indicating it is ready. * Press START * To STOP cooking - press STOP/CLEAR * To exit the SABBATH mode and return to normal operation - press and hold TIMER OFF for 5 seconds.
